Hey all,
Just wanted to ask if anybody else had a simliar instance.
I've not got the best credit history, have 1 satisfied CCJ, 1 active (which I have a court hearing for set-aside later in the year) 4 satisfied defaults, and 2 outstanding defaults on my file.
Basically, had a Three contract which I terminated at the end of October, their customer service was appauling to say the least. Thought I would stick with my Iphone4 from the prior contact and move to O2's simplicity 30 day tariff. Applied online, instant acceptance. Received the sim pack etc, but they made a mistake and sent a normal sim instead of the micro-sim needed for the iphone4.
So, I called the customer care team. The guy, basically said that they're doing an incentive on the new iphone 5 at the moment, offered me a free handset, 50% reduction in tariff for the first 6 months, and a free unlimited data bolt on for a year if I signed up to a 24 month contract in exchange for the 30 day simplicity.
I explained, my history was awful, and although I could easily afford it, I can guarantee O2 wouldnt be able to offer me this contract due to my credit history.
Was quite shocked when he said that 'I shouldn't worry about the credit history, as you passed an ID check for the simplicity contract, we dont need to credit check you as it was only conducted less than a week ago. I'm sure I can push it through for instant approval'.
Sounded a bit too good to be true, however this morning I've took delivery. I've checked my credit file, and O2 havent even credit checked me for my 24 month contract, or my simplicity contract I originally signed up for
Is this normal? Not that i'm complaining mind...

Its easier to make decisions in life, than it is to live with them.

Half price line rental on an iPhone 5? Something seems odd here.0

Well have had the phone for around a week, although the online portal is showing full tariff with no discount though, but will see when the first DD is taken.
Also the data only shows 2gb on the online portal too, i'm thinking maybe the sales rep was being a little over ambitious
Not complaining mind, but still doesnt explain no credit check?
Edit: The phone was actually delivered by Carphone warehouse too, dont know if that's relevant or notIts easier to make decisions in life, than it is to live with them.

What deal were you promised?
Discounts on the iPhone 5 are very slim on the ground (the only exception being things like O2 Open / Channel Partner Discount).
I get 30% off O2 and when I took a contract out I was advised the first month wont have the discount as a special department need to verify my eligibility (discount due to where I work) but the next month I would get 2x 30% offs (which I did)Nothing I say represents any past, present or future employer.0
