Cancelling bathrooms order

Hi

I went into a bathroom showroom on the 28th October, and ordered a bath, toilet & sink. They are not bespoke, but they wernt in the showroom and had to be ordered in. They are now ready to be delviered; we have paid a £200 deposit by credit card.

However, my wifes has just rang and told me she may possibly face redundancy, in the coming days. Can we now cancel? Would they have to refund any/all of the deposit?

Thank you for your help

Why not just ring them and ask, explain the circumstances.

Or look at the terms etc on your order form.

If the deposit is £200 it must have been an expensive bathroom.

You may have to pay a restocking charge.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.

I imagine their costs could be a lot higher than that. You really will have to rely on the goodwill of the shop, they may refuse to cancel the order.

On what basis would they be able to refuse to cancel?

Clearly the OP will be responsible for some costs, but the majority of the work - fitting the bathroom - clearly hasn't been done yet.

    On this maybe.

The shop has ordered the goods from another supplier, and there may well a no returns policy in place or possible a fairly large restocking fee.
On top of this, there could be the delivery charges to and from the shop that the items have been delivered to.
  • Hi

I rang them, we would loose 20% of the total order, which is basically their supplier costs

    Sounds fair enough to me.

See Shaun's post for starters, then you can explain why you think the OP has an automatic right to cancel?
  • But, that is there agreement, not mine

Ill check the docs they give me, but if there is no mention of cancellation charges, surely they cant just pass costs on?

You signed a contract. You have now breached that contract. You are responsible for their losses.

That said, if you are paying for the bathroom suite, presumably you should get that. Otherwise if they resell it the money should come back to you.
