car parking partnership

Iv seen a lot of threads about this and iv been sure to do some research before posting up.
I got a ticket yesterday for parking over two bays at the University of Warwick in one of the "car parking partnerships" multistory car-parks. I cant deny it, my car was clearly over two bays, but this is due to the fact their bays are really tight and I drive an Audi TT (And these cars are pretty fat)
I had no option but to leave a wheel over the line to actually get in and out of my car, I was parked with a wall one side and on the other a smart car in the bay next to me.
Upon returning to my car, as the smart car had left and no normal sized car could not get into the space next to me, I had the ticket for £35 if paid in 14 days or £70 there after up to 28 days, where im guessing I will then be sent loads of threats and abusive letters demanding payment.
I know you are all going to tell me to ignore them, and I intend to do so. They can not demand that sort of money, the most i would be willing to pay is £3 for the loss of a space for a full days parking!
My questions come from the complexity of where my car is registered. My car was given to me by my brother when he got a new one, this was a complicated point in time as i didn't actually have a fixed address and was staying at a number of friends houses, so I had it registered at my parents house, In all the fuss of starting a new job, moving from my old house to my new one, and finding my feet financially after loosing my last job i have not managed to move the cars registration to my new flat.
Now you know that, will all the threats go to my Parents house now? Can they actually send debt collectors? Whats the likely odds of them taking me to court over it? If i get my finger out and swap the cars registration to my new flat will that confuse them enough to not send anything anywhere? Should i just ignore everything or pay up to save my folks the hassle of anything coming of this? Or should i take watchdogs advice and pay them £5 for their troubles and state that they are not able to demand that much out of me for parking on private land, all they can ask for is any losses they may have encounter for my poor parking!
Sorry for the long post, i just need some clarification.
Regards
Jack

I this case, it might be an idea to "appeal" to them but don't waste a lot of effort/argument - this is simply a ruse giving them your current address - That way they won't feel the need to do the DVLA thing (if they even do/can do just now).
Then just ignore the scamming toilet paper as before.
And courts and "debt collectors" are just a fiction - your chances of being seriously pursued for this are miniscule!
Then you might find it useful to update your detail with the DVLA - that is potentially a more serious issue.0 -
Your name, parents house? or parents name/house.
If the former just get them to pass letters to you.
If the latter, you have 2 choices 1-tell them to ignore it.or 2-if they are of nervous disposition then get them to name you as driver, collect the letters and ignore them as before.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0 -
The Registered Keeper is not necessarily the owner of the vehicle0

Thats why they can now send their scrap paper to the RK if no driver named.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0

I am the registered owner and keeper of the car, it was just while I tried to find a flat near my new job that I had to register it at their house. My dad isnt the sort to be nervous either, I will just get him to send the letters to me and then file them away in the junk draw until they stop.
So we are all pretty sure they will just stop? Has anyone actually been through this? That would be helpful to get someone who has actually held out all the way and not paid...I don't want to be getting harasser for the next year!0 -

They are only letters to be laughed at , they only harass you if you let it get to you .
I've had six, all sucessfully ignored , and the longest ran to about six months but it varies company to company.0 -
Ok...Im fairly nervous about ignoring it as i don't have money to burn and the thought of me getting chased up for it for the next 6-12 months is really not pleasant. But if you are all sure nothing will come of me ignoring them, then ok...i will see if iv got the bottle! haha0

You could always try the "return to sender" option with a note like "not resident at this address"0 -

Most of the regulars here have ignored several or even dozens of these ..it's so not worth worrying about ...however some of the letters are very threatening ..until you realise that it is all lies or bluff..they either claim to be able to do things they can't or say they may do things which they won't !0 -
Im not in a very good place financially so threats of that nature are pretty big deals to me, lost my last job and lived off all my savings until i finally got a new one lined up and now im getting paid below a living wage...so you can see why i would be loosing sleep over things like this!
If it is all lies and a bluff, why do they do it? Why are the office of fair trading allowing this to happen? and why do they feel like they can threaten people? What authority have they ACTUALLY got?0
