Really can't decide what to do about the Kindle. I have been planning to buy one for DS1 whatever, but I can't believe that I hadn't read all the reviews before now, it's normally the first thing I do.
Can I ask what might be a silly question please? Someone mentioned reading it in the dark, does it not have a light to do this then, or have I got the wrong end of the stick (as usual) TIA

the kindle fire has a backlight on it i believe, the paperwhite has a built in light HTH

Got a further £28.95 refund, as it was reducedd even further today, making my refund £40 so far;-) Come on Amazon, reduce it more:rotfl:

Hi, thanks for this. DS keeps saying he wants a Fire HD, I'm wondering whether a Galaxy Nexus tablet would actually be better for him - same price

I thought they were more expensive than that but the Nexus tablets are generally considered to be good. I'm no expert on tablets but my son has researched these for himself and he is considering the Google Nexus - he wants the 10-inch version though.

Certainly, if looking for a proper tablet, the Kindle Fire would not be my choice.
  • Hi all I have bought Lego clock this morning. Think that we'll have to remain a secret frm hubby though. A few things look to have been added since last time I looked mainly rejects from last few days. Was hoping blue ray player would be back and magnetic fashion set s that's a shame but I'm glad I get a second chance at watch I wanted.

I click on Black friday at the top right, and then see a page with 70% off, 60%0ff etc is it just a case of scouring through products and categories to find the deals?
no those arent the black friday deals. click on black friday link then you want to look in middle of your screen. at moment its a lovefilm subscription. under each item you will see a timer. this shows you how long deal has left and what % have been claimed. as you scroll across you will see other deals that havent started yet and the time they will go live. we dont know what the reduced prices will be until that time. hope that makes sense.

Regular Kindles have no lights, they are not back-lit, they can not be read in the dark - though you can buy a little clip-on light which works fine. The fact that they are not lit is part of the appeal - it makes it so much easier on your eyes, very similar to paper and ink books.

The Paperwhites are lit but there seem to be problems with the lighting. The Fires are coloured, backlit etc so are more like reading off a computer screen. And they are much heavier than a regular Kindle.

It depends on how you plan to use the Kindle - I rarely need to read in the dark, I have a little clip-on light, I've hardly ever used it.
  • Glad to see a unisex ice watch with silicone strap, I want one for one of my sons but the mens ones were too dear (though I did get hubby one) and the womens ones were too girly, not so sure I like the colour though... will see how much it is.
