  • I hope he claimed for compo, totally outrageous behaviour (just read original post)
I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.

Umm it's quite correct as the article does say that they have never done court or any plans in the future to do so, I can only say what was in the article. On the case with Memphis to be honest I forgot about that lol , but wasn't it Euro that was sued by the solicitor sister of a motorist a couple of years ago ?

They are all or have been suspended from accessing the DVLA database for gross misconduct!
Do you really need to ask what kind of people run parking companies?

No, that was Parking Eye's one and only court appearance.

I have been providing assistance, including Lay Representation at Court hearings (current score: won 57, lost 14), to defendants in parking cases for over 5 years. I have an LLB (Hons) degree, and have a Graduate Diploma in Civil Litigation from CILEx. However, any advice given on these forums by me is NOT formal legal advice, and I accept no liability for its accuracy.

.... Next step is to write the boss of Morrisons to praise the manager at High Wycombe and suggest the company implements a system that means if you can prove you spent more than a fixed amount in the store you should not be pursued for money relating to parking. This just seems sensible and fair.
I live in High Wycombe, and know this Morrisons well.

Back in the days when it was Safeway, they had an exit barrier with a kiosk, where an employee would check your shopping receipt before raising the bar.

Since Morrisons took over, they have obviously been seduced by the ECP spiel about "managing" car parking at no cost to the company, and saving the wages of the kiosk person.

Yes, our experience was in High Wycombe! Not to worry, I've found the receipts, and will set OH on to the manager this week. If he's reading this, he might want to take Wed off sick! A group of very irate ladies is about to descend on him! I mean it, he is going to be seriously gone over.

    Renenge Time.

I suggest each of the very irate ladies fills a large shopping trolley with many many different items and then hands them over to the manager stating that you have changed your mind and decided to shop where customers are not subject to harassment by car park parasites.

Tell as many friends and family as possible to boycott the store.
  • Well. a couple of months ago I inadvertently parked in an disabled bay in my local Lidl managed by europarks. I did not overstay any time-limit!
I read the threads here and took the advice to ignore the demand invoices.
Lately there have been several phone calls from "credit control", of which I only answered one and said that I would not discuss the issue and hung up.
We are registered on the Telephone preferential Service (TPS) and according to their site online....

Organisations looking to recover debts are not required to screen their data against the TPS register.

Does this mean they are allowed to phone us up, whenever? Any ideas how to proceed from here would be really helpful.

Just do what you are doing and hang up on them, there is no handling of these calls it's just putting the phone down and go and do something else instead, you don't even have to hang up on them first, put the phone next to the tv and carry on if you wish. It's a scam they will soon give up on you.

  • Yes thanks for a quick reply Taffy.
Am intending to do exactly that and am really not worried about it!
Their number pops up on the phone screen so I don't even have to answer it. A really cheap and useful service that, BTW...get it and be in control.
