Sky Broadband , help required!!

I am posting on behalf omy my brother.
He got sky broadband and a brand new pc running on vista.
He can't download from any sites (IM etc) and also he got a new printer and it won't upload software.
Anyone any idea's what could be wrong?

Get him to log onto his router http://192.168.0.1/start.htm
User admin Password sky
Look on the ADSL port info that he has an ADSL IP address
Also scroll down and run the Sky test.
If these don't work then you'll need customer services.
If all is well then the problem is elsewhere.That gum you like is coming back in style.0
