Fired for faking sick day?

So we arranged for them to either work from home the day after suffering a bad attack OR to pay for a taxi to pick them up and drop them off so that they did not make the situation worse before they arrived in work.
If an employee who normally walks to work breaks their leg, would they get a free taxi service for the recovery period or have to make their own arrangements?0 -

I could put the same 2 & 2 together and decide that he's been diagnosed with some horrible terminal disease, only has a few weeks to live, and has decided to spend that time going out and about with his family rather than coming to work.
Or that he won the lottery and has retired on the proceeds.
Or that he got a new job, handed his notice in, was asked not to work it, so enjoyed a couple of weeks' garden leave with his family before starting his new role.

A few years ago I worked with some people who were very clicky, always had glowing appraisals (brown nosers) and were loved by the boss. It was common knowledge these two did as little work as possible and would skiive at every opportunity yet they got away with it time and time again. The boss knew exactly how they worked and would routinely give us others who did an honest job a hard time.
Suddenly one day they get called in to see the boss. Suspended the next day and two weeks later they were sacked. No second chances, no warnings, nothing and these people were thought to be untouchable. What happened? They got caught on CCTV skiiving and someone somewhere decided they weren't getting away with it anymore :rotfl:0 -
We have Bradford score aswel, no more than 54points a year. You're not getting paid when over or after 3rd occasion.
They have introduced it because it was seriously bad, my colleagues had more than 600 points a year:eek:0 -
It would be possible to be off work sick for stress and to be seen to be out enjoying yourself (ie. recovering from the stress).

But I was demonstrating a case where it would be acceptable to be out and about whilst off sick.0 -
For the first time in 12 years the CPID reported that stress is now the most quoted reason for long-term sick absences in the UK. Unfortunately while many do have this as a medical condition, it is now being openly targeted as it so easy to fake.0

I cannot see how "work related" stress can be anything than other than not suited to the job. Would be grateful if someone could give some examples of where this is not the case.0
