Gmail can follow you from ISP to ISP and country to country so really is the way to go.

BT will, but after a bit of coaxing will remove the DAX for free, no matter whom you go with. Yes, at first they do want money, just refuse and it took about 14 days longer. Also your new isp will tell BT to remove the DAX

10Gig is not much. I will easily go through this in a few hours. I would not take this deal. So if you need more bandwidth, they sign you onto a newer contract, with even a later termination date?

so this is the BT Total Broadband Option 1 fr £10 deal? Or you can get the same for 6 months free but then it is £13. To be honest. I would rather stay with virgin for unlimited at £12.50

BT will not 'transfer all your old emails'! If you are using a desktop email client such as Outlook Express or Windows Live Mail, then your emails are already on your computer and do not need transferring. If you are using webmail, then you will lose access when or soon after you switch.
All you need to do is set up a GMail account, which takes 5 minutes,and use that to be ISP-free. You should be able to divert your current VM email service to download into GMail.
If you are on a VM cable service then a 10GB cap is likely to be inadequate for you.
