Tiles or Plastic Cladding in Bathroom

What is the current trend, or at least which is better ... Ceramic tiles to all walls in a bathroom, or Plastic cladding. We are about the change the bathroom suite and the existing tiles are to be removed too, so we are basically going to start with a blank canvas. The walls would probably need replastering after removing…

If it's anything like the plastic tongue and groove stuff we have on our ceiling, I wouldn't. I hate it and I can't wait until I can afford to rip it out and replace it with a normal plastered and painted ceiling. I can't imagine putting it on the walls in lieu of tiles!
