Help with Slow Solicitor

We accepted an offer on a flat we are selling 10 weeks ago, there is no chain on either side, the buyer had her mortgage all sorted due to a previous purchase for the same value falling through at the last minute. This sale is dragging sooo badly, the buyer's solicitor seems to wait a week between doing anything, its like they have an allocated amount of time they will spend on any one client per week.
Our solicitor sends them information we don't here anything then when we chase them a week later then they then come up with some more questions.
For the last week ive taken to calling the estate agent every day to get updates, as its the only way ive found to make sure that people are not just sitting around doing nothing.
But still the Agent seems to be just getting fobbed off by the Solicitor.
Anyone got any tips on how to light a bonfire under a solicitor?
Our solicitor sends them information we don't here anything then when we chase them a week later then they then come up with some more questions.

You need to get the EA to engage more with the buyer. Without the buyer chasing them every day there's little/nothing you can do.
Is the solicitor in question a large chain or a small local firm?0 -
We have a chain that has precisely the same problem. We found the best solution is to have a direct conversation with both buyers and sellers. Although this has resulted in some tricky conversations we have been able to tackly issues relatively swiftly.
It was our purchasers that had a slow solicitor and they were able to put a rocket up his proverbial. They also had no idea about some of the approaches he was taking, which they would have disagreed with!
As I say we have had some tricky chats, but also it has been really useful. So much so that we will be giving a load of toys that our kids have grown out of to our prospective purchasers' daughter, and we shall be sharing a glass of red with our vendors before they move away.
Still bloody frustrating though and would love it if people learned to communicate even semi effectively!0 -

If you have their address I'd drop them a line. You need to get them to start kicking their solicitors !!!0

Is there any way you can contact your buyer?
I do agree with the previous poster that having contact makes things so much easier.
In my experience solicitors blame each other for lack of progress. she probably thinks that your solicitor is at fault.
Both of you need to be chasing your own soliciotrs.
Remember that yours is just a file on the desk which will sit there until someone nags them to do something.

They seem to take the words 'incompetant' and 'offical complaint' personally...seemed to light a fire under my solicitor who was dragging her feet.Debt Free! Long road, but we did it
