It is worse than the Dell deal... even though this is 2.1GHz, the Dell is dual core which makes it 3.2GHz, The Dell also has double the RAM which will have a huge impact on the speed at which it runs.

Is it like a 3.2? is that how the dual core works? i thought the run parralel to each other which doesn't really mean 3.2....

if your not worried about having the extra warranty, then the Dell is a much better choice.
Should i worry about the warranty?

Actually if you buy a Dell and reduce the warranty to 90 day C&R you will usually have somebody ringing up after the PC has arrived, offering you warranties at a SIGNIFICANTLY lower price than they cost if you buy them when you buy the PC ;)

Also, even if you select 90 day collect and return, you are still covered for 12 months, it just means you have to pay the postage after the 90 days are up.

It's like having two processors instead of one, both running at 1.6GHz, so yes it is like 3.2GHz

With Dell 90 day warranty, you are covered for 12 months, you just have to pay postage after the 90 days. Also as Roger_Rampant said, Dell will ring you and offer you extended warranty at a much cheaper price (up to 75% off) when your warranty runs out.

I'd give this site a miss, it has all the hallmarks of a consumer con site imo.

All the latest most desirable products and no way of tracing anyone linked to the company if and when they do a runner with the money.

As said before registrant details are La Dolcecca ? via a care of address at a PO Box which when traced is close to Dulles Airport, Washington.

Actually you are wrong, the performance of dual core is somewhere in between that of a single core and actually having two physical processors because the processors still share the same bus and so have to wait for each other. Also if the software you are using doesn't utilize parallel threading then there is no difference at all from having a single core processor.

3 weeks for delivery - just enough time to bag the cash and run off IMO ;-)

There is an optional 48 hour delivery using Parcelforce for £14.50 which will give them less time to run off.

From my experience of using the same model Toshiba laptop with Pentium M & Core 2 Duo processors the difference isn't that great if the other hardware (ie video & disk) is identical.

Whilst the laptop with the dual core processor was undoubtedly faster it was only about 10% to 15% and for some processes there was no appreciable difference.

What software does/doesn't use dual threading?
    thanks

Are there still any laptops around that have XP on rather than Vista?

Also, if you buy one with Vista, will it take an old Office disk?

    Thanks,
