However she isnt an agency babysitter, who has relevant experience of qualifactions and first aid training.

I would expect to pay £20 from 8pm - 12pm, but not be responsible for putting toddlers to bed who may not settle and cry for the next 2 hours. If the kids are in bed it isnt really fair to charge per child, but £5ph to sit and watch telly isn't a bad little earner.

ripped off, a fiver and hour plus either walked home or paid taxi home, she should get her fee agreed up front. If the couple in question dont like it they can look else where

If all children were in bed asleep then personally £3 an hour is good money IMO. How much would she get paid if she had to get off her butt and work in a shop or delivering papers? She wouldn't get minimum wage at her age. Lets face it she isn't declaring it (although I realise it wouldn't make a difference if she did).

If the children are awake then more like £7 an hour would be right. Getting children in bed is hard work!

We give my 16yo neice £10 to babysit for our 2 children, roughly 8pm-12. If it's later we give her £15 and for something special like babysitting on New Years Eve £20. Sometimes she puts the children to bed (aged 7 and 4)

She doesn't have a Sat job and couldn't take one either as she is in Cadets, and she gave up her paper round shortly after Christmas.

 Next time, she needs to define what she'll do & when. If the children need to be fed & put to bed xxph, if they are in bed and all it is is tv and checking up xxph.

I love the fact that people will pay for a taxi homne for themselves or use a http://www.scooterman.co.uk/ to get back home, but then pay peanuts for someone to look after kids.

At her age, I'd suggest £2-3ph (with a drive or taxi home) :)

At her age i would think that £15 + travel home paid for is the minimum. £10 is a bit tight.

I think £10 and turning up late is unacceptable.

I's happily pay £5 an hour to a reliable teenager who was going to babysit 4 kids for me til midnight. I think you daughter needs to have a set rate she can tell people and then there's no confusion.

Sounds to me they were pushing their luck to see how cheap they can get her to babysit for them.

I don't know what the going rate for a teenager babysitting is
but i pay £5.50 an hour to an agency babysitter, who is a fully qualified childmainder, i have twin boys aged 11, who really dont need any looking after, but just need to be supervised
enjoy life, we only get one chance at it:)

When I used to babysit I was paid £20 for 6 - midnight. But to be honest it was an easy job, I was friends with one of the guys (he was 3 years younger than me) but him and his little brother were prone to trying to kill each other. So I basically made sure they didnt. I just kept them entertained (playstation:D) until it was time for them to go to bed.

When I stayed over once at another babysitting job I got £30 as I kept an ear out until gone 2 am (I stayed in the spare room so went to bed around 11).

On the first one if the parents were ever late then they would let me know, apologise hugely then try and pay me more.

I think shes being ripped off
