If you've sorted out xmas pressies for the last few years, I think it's your OH's turn. If he's got a better idea, fair dos. Otherwise, he might come around to the biscuit idea!

I would be very happy with tin of biscuits/booze/chocs, and much prefer this sort of present than something ill thought out that clutters up the house.

I bought 4 tins of M&S shortbread today (special half price offer). Both my mum and my MIL love shortbread and at their age (87 and 93) they reckon there is not much they want or need for presents. Along with a bottle of sherry, some small pots of jam/marmalade, a box of tea bags etc, they will be delighted!

I'd be quite happy with a tin of biscuits. The best imho are the sort that come in a plastic'tin', the containers are so useful, better than a tin that rusts.
So biscuits are for life not just for Christmas!

I'm quite happy with a tin of nice biscuits. If I were to give one I wouldn't wrap it though. I actually wouldn't wrap any food type of a gift, I tend to just hand them to the recipient as a gesture rather than a gift.

I'm happy and grateful for anything I get though, wrapped or otherwise :)

Depends on who it is for i think, wouldnt buy the parents or inlaws a box of biscuits, but for neighbours or family i dont see often dont see the problem!
  • I'd definitely go with the Homemade. I was put out one year when my brother send an ordinary box of BHS biscuits - his wife worked there and they got them at a discount to boot. I'd rather have had no present at all
  • When I told my 5 year old nephew he was only getting a tin of biscuits for Christmas from me, he punched the air in victory and ran in to tell his older brother "auntie ellie's getting me a whole tin of biscuits all just for me!"

I would gratefully receive a box of biscuits, but agree maybe not family circle or tea time, they're just digestives and custard creams and the like. Foxes or Cadbury choccie special ones would be lovely!

I would be happy with a box of biscuits instead of some of the carp I get for Christmas it's guaranteed to be eaten isn't it :)

This year we will be telling most of our family not to bother with us and we won't bother with them as we're saving up for a wedding. We will of course be getting nieces and nephews presents though.

  • We receive a tin of biscuits every year off an old friend of my mil's, with 4 children it's a welcome gift and doesn't last long.

The option we chose last year was to give a tin of quality street or roses to friends children to share between them, parents enjoyed them as much as the children :D.
