  • Morning everyone :)

A bit warmer today but very damp and I think we will have rain later.

Meatlballs from large batch of mince for dinner tonight with some pasta and tomato sauce. Beans on toast tomorrow, finances are tight and we love them anyway.

I'm a bit worried about Timmy Pig, he's been living on his own since Rambo died and he seems lonely. I can't get a new guinea pig - he's four and a half so can't introduce a new male, it's too risky for him to have an op at his age so can't get him done and introduce a female.

Could you get a neutered female for company? or wouldn't that work?

    Hi everyone,
Am I OK to join you lovely people, long time Lurker, first time posting on this thread.

    Hi Rachel :hello:

It's lovely to see you here. I am a huge slow cooking fan and there are some great recipes around the forum. Our current favourite is Pulled Pork made with a shoulder joint. You get loads of meat and we have it in lots of different meals.

Am supposed to be using up all the bits and bobs of wool in the house before I buy any more but couldn't resist buying some from the local Cancer Research charity shop last night. They had lots of mohair in some beautiful colours and it was all 50p a ball. Now all I need to do is decide what to make with it :o

Anyway I must do some work so I will leave with well wishes for all sick people and pets and hugs for those who need or just want them. Have a super day everyone :)

Rescue guinea pig - loads of males available .
Thanks Molly but I can't do that - even if the rescue male has been neutered. Tim would have to be done too and an anaesthetic is risky for pigs, the risk increases as they get older :(

Sorry Time to face the music I missed your post as I was replying. I'm worried about an age difference too, if it's too big I'll end up with a lonely pig again at some point. I'll keep an eye out for a neutered, approx. 4.5 year old female :D Would love one to keep Tim company.

Good Morning all, a crisp and very chilly day today, but the sun is shining which makes it a nice change from the grey low clouds.I have the day off today as my youngest DD is back on her rota which means she works this Saturday and has a Wednesday off instead. So I am having a quiet pottering day today.I decided to recycle on old fitted sheet that would otherwise have gone in the bin by removing the frill and cutting the frill up into large squares and hemming round the edges .I have managed to get 14 reasonable sized squares from this cotton frill and have done 5 of them so far (I handsew them as I have no machine)These will be used for cleaning and dusting cloths,The big main middle bit of the sheet will be hemmed around, and I will use it on my ironing board as my cover is getting a bit thin.I have a very large ironing board that I got with my green shield stamps in 1973 and the cover for it last time cost me £17.00 so my old cotton sheet will save me a few bob and will go to a good use.I hate to waste anything :):)

I have almost finished reading Lori Lansen's 'Rush Home Road' and its one I could recommend as its a really good read.
Someone gave it to me amongst a pile of paperbacks and what a jewel it is.
HM made soup and crackers for lunch and I have got some salmon fillet in the freezer that will do for dinner tonight. I really should got to the shops and get a few bits but its so chilly that I may leave it until tomorrow.Eldest DD goes into hospital tomorrow so I will be taking her in then probably go to the nearest Asda to the hospital to take my mind off her op. I know she will be fine, and at 44 she is not a baby, but she's still my baby, no matter how old she is.

I'm pleased that Barrack Obama was re-elected as I think he is more of a peacemaker that the other chap (he's got a lovely smile as well :):))
Hope everyone has a good day and <<hugs>> to those who are down or poorly Wrap up warm if you go out its a bitter chilly wind blowing (well where I live anyway )
    Cheers chums

    Morning all,

I love guinea pigs. I had a couple as a child and had a few when my own children were growing up. I think they make ideal pets for children and i think all children ought to have a pet as it teaches them about caring for something smaller than they are and responsibility. Oh and i love the way they 'talk'. I much prefer them to bunnies i must say.

Anyway, all is well with me. Its not quite as cold today so i'm not quite as wrapped up.

Beds are stripped and linen changed. Gave my sons room a good clean whilst he is at college. Things like vacuuming under his bed is rarely done. Dusting in his room is a mean feat in itself as he doesnt put stuff away. He'll probably moan when he gets back that he cant find stuff that ive put away but one day he will learn:

IF HE DOESNT CLEAN HIS ROOM I WILL! :rotfl:

I take comfort in knowing he doesnt collect posh carrier bags like his sister did. She wouldnt throw them out whilst she lived at home but as soon as she moved in with her boyfriend she chucked them rather than take them with her.:(

Won a minor victory yesterday with hubby. He will be paying for our sons driving lessons for Christmas. I will be paying for his driving license and theory test.:T

    Have a good day all,

    Hi all

Long day today, methinks – Mr LW is on late shift today, so I have to expect him home when I see him; and every joint I have seems to have got the screaming ab-dabs today. Painful even to type.:(

Welcome to all the newbies (I'm only just catching up with the 2nd half of yesterday's thread).;)

Rachel6188 I'm on morphine too, with a DH doing far more of the housework than I'm comfortable with, so I sympathise with your situation.:o

Tru I have no experience of piggies, so no advice here, but just wanted to send Timmy posi-vibes.:o It's early days I guess, and he's bound to miss Rambo. Reading on in the thread, maybe we need a Lonely Hearts advert - “Elderly Gent of the Cavy persuasion seeks similar Lady of mature years for cuddles and company – applications to my human servant, please”.:D

Tiglath I suspect it's done you good to just say s0ditall and have a drink and a Chinese, you can only be self-disciplined for so long, then something has to give. I must admit, I had to G00gle Mojito – I'm a Real Ale and Malt Whisky girl myself.;) Not at the same time, I hasten to add.:D

Bitsy  @ KC crunching mouse bones._pale_ The nearest I've seen to that was wolves eating an entire rabbit (the rabbit was dead when presented to them, I hasten to add). It's part of the enrichment stuff they do for the wolves - the rabbit is tied into a gunny-sack and hung up in the wolf enclosure, and they have to work to get the sack down and the rabbit out.:o

I have some membership paperwork to do today, so need to fire up my 10-year-old desktop pc; as that runs like a dog, and I don't mean a Greyhound, I'd better get started.;)
If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)

  • I am with bargainbird nlj I would have been round having words with that intolerant piece of work.:mad:

Hands are still sore but not as bad as yesterday, I haven't been able to knit for over two weeks now :( and I really need to get a couple more hot water bottle covers done after I have finished the one that I am working on now, they are Christmas pressies, so I want to get them done ASAP.

JackieO I am pleased that Barrack Obama won as well, I couldn't warm to animated-smileys-devil-014.gif Romney .
I have made a lasagne for dinner we will have that at 2.30pm before DH goes back to do his second shift, that means that I won't be cooking at 8pm when he gets in or washing up at 9pm which I really hate.

    Hi all,
Bitsy- sympathies-I've woken today with sore glands and throat :( hope you're better soon, and all other poorlies. Not caught up properly from yesterday-had 13 mth DGD all day,it was hectic :D

Also had footie & when we got back I couldn't get warm so had a nice hot bath with essential oils, not done that for ages.We are out for a meal tonight courtesy of a neighbour-DH trimmed back some trees for her,and this is her way of saying thanks. Her son has a restaurant, but never been before-looking forward to it:).I dont feel like doing much today so I'll carry on making my C cards.

Leos leg seems much better today, just need to stop him rushing round in the kitchen so he doesn't slip again.I s'pose I should reword that-he doesnt do rushing ;) but can get a bit sprightly if he thinks there is any food on offer.DGD makes me laugh, she lies on his tum like he's her own big furry beanbag and says aaawh.Don't worry,I'm always close but he just wags his tail and goes back to sleep.

You are all putting me to shame saying your C'mas prep is done:eek:,hardly started yet.
    Tru- hugs for little Timmy.
