Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 7th Nov. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.
Morning :hello:
I'm a bit worried about Timmy Pig, he's been living on his own since Rambo died and he seems lonely. I can't get a new guinea pig - he's four and a half so can't introduce a new male, it's too risky for him to have an op at his age so can't get him done and introduce a female. He's eating and drinking though so maybe he'll be OK once he used to living on his own?
I have half a large sack of carrots from the garden, I've stored them in a dark cool cupboard in the house. They'd be better in the shed but there always seems to be a little family of mice in there
They've gone a bit rubbery (the carrots, not the mice) so I'm going to chop and freeze them today.
I'm feeling a bit tired today so that's probably all I'll manage to do
Hope you all have good days

Morning all - hope everyone's well.
I had a very frustrating day at work yesterday - it's depressing me only being allowed to work part-time so far because I can't get through the work. So I threw caution to the winds, the defrosted prawns to the cats, guzzled a bottle of Mojito (I think it was my first drink since May) and ordered in Chinese. Not very MSE but exactly what I needed. Crashed at 10 and woke up just before 7, and I feel pretty good for today, my day off.
I have a huge pile of laundry to get through, and if the weather holds, I'll take more books to Oxfam. Other than that, I'm chilling.
Have a good day, everyone"Save £12k in 2019" #120 - £100,699.57/£100,0000 -
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that need/want them that are having a hard/sad time at the moment x
Light cloud, warmer, and not raining but very wet underfoot here this morning. DH up and off to work stupid early.
Dinner was fish, chips/jacket potato, beans/veg and treats from the tins for those that had room. Dinner tonight will be stew and dumplings, as I remembered to get the beef out of the freezer to defrost overnight which is now safely in the fridge.
Work was much less busy yesterday but steady, going to the other office today as have a training session then my normal lunchtime finish - really looking forward to my days off this week as have several jobs to do, am working as normal next week then the following week I have a week's annual leave - in this week I will be endeavouring to get all the remaining xmas shopping completed and wrapped and hopefully will have made my xmas cakes and puds - did them in half term last year but haven't had time as yet - may see how I go for this weekend.
Have a great day everyone, stay safe and well x

Tru get yourself a cat. Your family of mice will be there no more. And you might be lucky like me and have the pleasure of sitting watching your own KC crunching the bones of one. Like I did. Last night :eek:I have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knife

Morning, sunny but cold here this morning. Yesterday's work went well and I managed a bit of housework too thanks to motivation from the flylady thread.
Today I am going out with my son and his carers, hopefully for fun, but may need to take him to get him registered at the doctors if the carers haven't found a way to do it.
Then need to go to gym for physio, do some more housework and prepare for a talk I am giving tomorrow.
OH is coming for dinner tonight, so will do stuffed baked potatoes. He loves them. Lunch will be a sandwich if I get time.
My son's neighbout has been round complaining again, saying that my son should be in an institution, shouldn't be in the community etc etc. OK so he had a valid complaint, my son had been unsettled and there was some noise, but when carers explained the situation he wouldn't accept it. I want to point out that my son is actually a lot quieter than most 20 year old young men, but that will only fuel the argument as the neighbour is not going to change his views. I just wish he would realise that my son can understand what he is saying about him and is more likely to be unsettled and therefore noisy as a result! Quite apart from the fact that my son has a legal right to live in the community if he chooses. He is properly staffed at all times so is no danger to anyone except himself and we all work very hard to try to make sure he is not a nuisance to anyone, but things happen that we can't control.
Rant over, thanks for listening!'Do not follow where the path may lead. Go instead where there is no path and leave a trail. Only those who will risk going too far can possibly find out how far one can go.' T S Eliot0 -
I can't have a cat, it might turn out to be like yours  :rotfl:
I like having the family in the shed. Occasionally mr tru goes "quick, come and see this" and I wander out to find him peering into a box with babies curled up in the corner
Piggies need company, they really shouldn't be on their own. I suppose most people who keep them get to the stage where there's only one. Timmy is very people-friendly, some pigs are shy but not himHe likes to be out and running around, he has a fave spot to hide in the kitchen when he wants some peace and soon lets you know if he wants you to pick him up. I leave his hutch open all day so he can get out when he wants to. Lately though he just stays in it
Unless I force him out to clean it.
Strange that he's outived all the others - he was the runt, in quite a bad way when he was born and we didn't think he'd survive. Hence his name, Tiny TimBulletproof0 -

Rescue guinea pig - loads of males available .I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.0
