i am in the same position with BOS, letters sent on 28th feb with cheque, which has been cashed, but heard absolutely nothing back! aaargh.. so frustrating.
  • I sent letter to bank on 24 February and received my statements last Wednesday, a similar timescale to what you are on just now. If you don't get anything in Mondays post, I would phone the bank to see what the state of play is then report the breach to the Information Commissioner.
  • on 27th feb i requested statments from bank of scotland,i still havent recieved them and the forty days have expired.i called them on the10th and they said they are too busy and will send them when they can.i then decided to write demanding the charges back, altho i dont know the total yet and they have replied telling me they have 8 weeks to deal with it.What do i do now?

At day 35 I have recieved an offer from the Bank of Scotland. It is a goodwill gesture of £1080.00. It is the only offer they will make and it is is full and final settlement, I have to pnone if I do not accept this. My problem is I do not know if this is correct. I never recieved my old bank statements and so contacted the Financial Service Ombudsman who wrote to the bank. I can go back to them if I am not happy but I would still not know what the true figure is. As the bank has folded so easily I am assuming they owe me a lot more than this? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Should I phone the number and politley argue? At present it would just about clear my student O/D which was the main purpose for claiming but now I am thinking what is the actual ammount? Is it liable that they have settled for the full ammount that they owed me? I do not want to challenge them without some knowledge in case they withdraw their offer and ask for my O/D to be paid immediately as I do not have the income at the minute due to being off work after surgery. Please help as I will need to phone them soon.
    Many thanks

We originally sent for our statements back in Jan, but never rec'd a thing. Tried to phone different no's to no avail as a last resort a fortnight ago i just rang the normal telebanking no 08457 21 31 41 and explained our situation the guy seemed very helpful informing me that he could order the statements for us free of charge. He did say that this could take up to 3 weeks due to the volume of requests they were reciving. Another thing that might delay this is the merger between BOS & Halifax because all the archives previous to the merger are at a different location.

Phoned again this week just to check that they had been ordred but the girl could see no record of the order on our account notes and requestedan immediate requestfor us. Also advised us to phone Customer relations 08457 253519 and inform them of our problems. Did this and was informed that the statements had in fact been ordered, also informed us that they have now introduced a servic ewere the can print of just your charges and post out to you and should only take a few days.

Rec'd first batch of statementson friday morning. I think these ones are post merger. Now waiting for list or rest of statements.
  • i would chase up the bank statements via a phone call first, i had to chase up capital 1 and mbna, you can't assume what they are offering is correct, the banks seem to offer different amounts to different people, i claimed £3320 from rbs plus interest, they offered the £3320 which i accepted but my husband has had an offer of £300 from capital one on a claim of only £1000, so you need to look at the actual statements, don't give in yet!!!!

I opened a student account with The Bank of Scotland 2001/2002. Along with the student current account I got a student instant saving account also. I got very overdrawn in the current account and ended up giving the bank my last two student loan payments to clear the account before it was closed. I still have the savings account which i use to have my wages paid into. Am I able to claim back the charges i paid in the current account although it is closed?
  • I am just writing to ask for my charges back from HBOS.

    Two questions.

HBOS's registered office is in Scotland. Their small claims court is limited to a £750 maximum as opposed to the £5000 limit for English small claims courts.

I live in England and my branch is local to me. Do I go for an English small claims court. I am asking for more than £750 to be repaid. Or as HBOS is based in Scotland do I have to take them to court there?

Has anyone been through the whole process with HBOS. Are they likely to put up a big fight or do they make offers. The thought of going to court scares me, but I will do so on principle if they refuse to repay the charges.
