But none of that covers loss, theft or accidental damage, which the OP appears to believe is covered by the contract!

Alright alright, I'm a bit clueless, I implicitly admitted that in the first post, need to rub it in!!! :)

I'm not suggesting insurance is required. Only that the OP should be aware that if the worst happens, the cost is down to them. He/she appears to think that Tesco provide a free replacement.

No I DON'T appear to think that!!
    I wasn't sure - hence asking!!
    You're nasty! :(

Think I'm going to go with the £6/month insurance. We don't have house insurance (although I might look into that now before starting phone contract/insurance for phone), and I'm pretty sure my Yorkshire Bank accounts don't give me any insurances.
I've never lost a phone yet but you never know, could drop down the loo (eek) or absent-mindedly leave a bag somewhere one day - and sod's law, I wouldn't have taken out insurance so I'd rather be safe.
I know they can still quibble about what they will and won't pay for but it's a bit more protection. Thanks all for the info.

But that is exactly what your first post implies. Otherwise what is the point of your post?
I was simply making you aware that no insurance is included.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)
  • I have Geek Squad cover on my phone. Yeah it is costing me £15 per month but loss, theft, acc dmagae, water damage, accessories, unorth calls and the tech support side are well worth it in my view. If you can't afford to insure it, son't bother buying it.

I know the excess and cover is costing me but if i claim on my home insurance my premium will only go up and bank cover is a joke at best. Samsung do cover the handset for 2 years for any fault on their part but I'd rather pay for decent cover than buy another phone again. I have had to use it before and it worked just as I expected.

    Strange statement....
Is it OK if one can afford, but just doesn't want to?
