Euro Car Parks

Hope someone can advise. I parked on my local free car park at the weekend in a bay that had been designated for a nearby hotel (Apx 10 bays). On returning to my car i had been issued with a 'Parking Charge Notice' by Euro Car Parks. On viewing this ticket it summarises that i have No Permit to park on these allocated bays, and as a consequence i am required to pay £70 within 28 days or £40 within 14days. Obviously, quite disgruntled, I had a scout around the car park to find one sign giving notice of contravention pertaining to the aforementioned Hotel Bays.
I have read some of the threads associated with Euro Car Parks, and the general concensus is to ignore the penalty, but not sure if i am in the wrong for parking in these bays. Just wanted to hear from anyone who has been in a similar position or can give some advice. Thanks.

I got a Euro Car Parks PCN on my windscreen in a Supermarket car park. It was the first fake PCN I got and I laughed at it and ignored the letters. That was 5 years ago and I have collected another fake PCN this year. In both cases my car was 'in the wrong' as it overstayed.
So what? Any fake PCn from any private parking firm is a moneymaking CON.
Like all the other posters on this board, you have a fake PCN.
As long as it's not a company/hire/lease car then you can just ignore it and ignore the other letters that will arrive. The letters are easy to predict and laugh at, when they arrive at the address of someone who knows it's all hogwash and not a real parking ticket at all.
The whole scam of fake PCNs relies firstly on people's ignorance of the fact that a random private company can't fine anyone, and secondly on their natural fear of parking tickets and the escalating costs/bailiff scenario. So PPCs copy the look of a real parking ticket and - hey presto! - the cash rolls in from victims who know no better.
Don't be victims!
There is no fine, no CCJ, no bailiff, no debt, no effect on credit rating, no Court, no repercussions at all.
Tick off the threatening letters here.
Watchdog clip with expert Solicitor's opinion, using a fake PCN with nice photos of a car (probs very much like your fake PCN!) here.
Barrister's opinion - read the answer at the bottom, it's very clear! - here.
So simply choose to ignore and laugh at the scammer and their attempt to extort money. It's like deleting obvious phishing emails from your 'Bank'; it's a very similar con based on impersonation of authority. Just play snap with each letter against the first link, then the scam fizzles out - simple!
HTHPRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Just ignore Euro!! Doesn't matter the situationFor everthing else there's mastercard.
For clampers there's Barclaycard.0 -
Ignore them entirely. Just to show you how two faced PPCs are ( especially Euro ) I passed a Euro car the other day that was parked in a council pay and display space but hadn't paid. So not only are they ripping off people with their fake tickets they are also ripping off the tax payer.
I did try and find a traffic warden to get the car a ticket but couldn't find one.All aboard the Gus Bus !0 -
Its a shame that the ECP guy/gal didnt get a ticket....do you think that they may have come to this site to ask questions?
Ignore these "fines"....ive collected 6 so far...money paid out to them...ZILCH,times theyve taken me to court...ZILCH,times ive been threatened by thier letters? quite a few but one benifit is that the spam letters help to light my woodburner...now thats useful, these so called parking companies are not...ignore and ignore some more...where are you Parking Eye?0 -
'Parking tickets' issued by Private Parking Companies are not 'parking tickets' at all. They are unenforceable invoices as stated by MSE head Martin Lewis recently on TV.
My family and friends now know what's going on in private car parks and motorway services areas. :T

Now why didnt i think of looking there???? Trouble is i think that those p.e rats are probably a bit bigger than the one above
......love it.....very appropriate.
We now have a p.e guy at one of our local stores...i asked him what his job was and he replied" saving people like you sir from yourselves" nearly as confusing as thier threatograms0
