As a temporary measure, is there anywhere outside she can store it (ie. a window ledge)? Assuming its somewhere nobody else can get to it. It's pretty cold at the moment.0

It's storing it on top of the radiator that would be a problem.Value-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!

try gumtree. i advertised one free to anyone who would collect it, and there were quite a few similar adds. all you need is a van or large car to pick it up in.0

Please do not ever put anything of value outside on a window ledge, because Magpies/Crows will love it. Even if it is quite large, they will find a way to open it or knock it off the ledge.0 -
what about one of the small "beer" fridges - they should be big enough the hold insulin
You should be able to pick up one cheaply - and as VfM4meplse sys the insulin is fine for 4 - 6 weeks, so she has 4 - 6 weeks to budget for this
eg: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/4-Litre-White-Mini-Fridge-RRP-34-99-save-15-lot-D010-/271092754983#vi-contentWeight loss challenge, lose 15lb in 6 weeks before Christmas.0 -
you should be able to get one of them small drinks fridges cheaply, try ebay. Obviously they wont be big enough for food and all that but will be big enough for the insulin.
Failing that if your daughter lives close enough to you, how about she fills a cool bag with the ice packs (from your freezer ) o last her each day. Then she could store milk and fridge stuff as well as her meds.SPC 2012 #1456

Her freezer works so ice packs could be a good temporary measure for food as well as the insulin...
A cool bag would be better but she could get by with a cardboard box and some polystyrene packaging or lots of newspaper to line it.
I definitely think it's worth her exploring a crisis or budgeting loan but tell her not to delay as they can take some time to process. If she managed to get one one freecycle in the meantime, she could cancel the loan.0 -
Ebay would be a good place to start. Big ticket items like that can often be picked up cheap if they are in your locale.Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..0

or try your local general auction house if there is one, the one I go to has vases etc that go for £1,000 or white goods that go for £6 - £10 depending on the day, but they don't come up often I saw a fridge freezer go for £15 at another one and that was almost brand new!! If you are in London PM me and I can give you some info.0

This happened to our fridge freezer a few months ago, my husband phoned someone out of the free paper and he said he didn't need to come out to look at it. He told us to empty everything out of it and turn it off at the mains for 48 hours. We did this and it has been working fine ever since.
My husband also has to keep his medicines in the fridge so we were in a panic too. Our friend told us at the time that if you are on benefits and need a fridge to keep medicines in you can get help with this (she's a support worker so does this for her clients if needed).0
