Have not received the email but I have been expecting it to happen, in the past the institutions were fighting each other to offer the best rates, now it's just the opposite, none of them want to be offering the top rate.

For people who depend on savings interest or use it to top up a basic pension (and there are probably quite a few) it is becoming quite worrying how low rates will go. :)

1.90% after tax monthly interest, will move back to Natwest esaver until they reduce their basic rate too. :)

Is the rate for Natwest Esaver new joiners higher than VM?
I checked and it doesn't look like it at 1%

I have now received the email a cut on 8th Feb to 2.4%.
Having said that, there`s nothing better out there for easy access at the moment.
I`m going to move all of my money to another account BUT leave £1 in because you never know.

It's only higher if you managed to get an account when they launched it in October; paying a 1.85% bonus on top of the 1% std rate for 12 months.
