2.75 Gross with Virgin Money

I noticed the 'best' instant access savings account on this site is Derbyshire bs, at 2.5 including bonus.
My Northern Rock account (which just became Virgin Money) shows my gross rate (as non tax payer) as 2.75 on the bank screen. It makes me worry that it isn't the 'real' rate that I'm getting...
... if it's 2.75, why isn't it listed on this site as the best account?

You often stay for some time (12-ish months?) on the rate [usually incl some temp bonus] in force when you opened the account.
But if you are opening a new account now, you wouldn't get 2.75% from VM. Last I saw they were on 2.4%.0 -

Shhh - This rate isn't available to new applications.
I have this account too but I didn't want to bring it to Virgin's attention.0 -
I have a NR/Virgin instant access account that I opened in March this year that pays 2.85%. That issue has been withdrawn and is no longer available to new users so will not show on best buy league tables
It sounds like you opened one a little later and it is also no longer available to new users so will not show on best buy league tables either
What now shows up in the league tables is Virgin's current issue on offer at 2.5%

I just checked my Quicken. I opened my NR Everyday Access Online account in October last year, by transferring from a NR E-saver 3.I have a NR/Virgin instant access account that I opened in March this year that pays 2.85%. There was no bonus attached to either of these accounts.0 -
I love this forum. I asked a simple question, why doesn't my rate show up as a best buy? I get a simple answer, it's not available to new customers.
It's variable of course. But they might not reduce it, because, unlike most bank accounts, it shows up on the screen near the deposited amount.0 -
I think they've just kept the interest rates for the Northern Rock accounts, rather than let them slide down to a very low rate. I've got an Northern Rock e-Isa which I opened and transferred into, last year and my interest rate is the same as it was when I opened it.0

I'm also amazed that Derbyshire's Net Saver Issue 1 (3.25%) hasn't been cut at any point. The bonus might be coming off at the end of November, but I've still been checking it regularly expecting them to have managed it down.
I've hardly got anything in it now (thank you Monmouthsire, Lloyds Vantage and new ISA allowance), but I still wanted to be the first to spot it having been cut and come and tell everyone

Just received an email from Virgin (NR) to say the rate will be reduced to 2.40% from February.
