never thought of doing it over night, thatd be easier than making stew in morning rush. doh.

    <sigh> ;-)

I've often prepped all the ingredients the night before but only switched the pot on as I was heading out the door for work in the morning.

Of course - I've also _forgotten_ to switch the darn thing on too!

Thankyou Smiley_mum for the prompt reply, the p&p on the Ebay one cancels out any savings you may make so will check out the Argos catalogue.

Argos have the MR 6.5l for £33.97 plus P&P if that's any help

Excellent find Smiley_Mum, well done :T

I reckon that's about the cheapest we'll find them as the offers around a few weeks back are all sold out now ... mostly to MSE'ers :rotfl:

Grabbit while you can, Coolhandluke!!!! :-)

    Curry_Queen,

Do you have any recipes for curries, do you make your own? I just wondered as I love kormas and passandas, stuff like that and I did have a good recipe round somewhere but it's gone, don't know where. Wondered if you have good recipes for mild coconutty, almondy, creamy curries, mild ones. Also any recipes for chapattis. Appreciated, TIA

    Mortgage-free Glee!
having got the slow cooker out again this week, I suddenly remembered I had seen this thread as I was wizzing down the forums list, so I have come for inspiration....

    71 pages!!!!!

It will take me ages ! never mind I will be inspired. I have only don things form the recipe book that came with it . The most recent, chinese chicken and mushrooms (though mushrooms were changed for carrots) !! The chicken was so tender!

Well back to the start...am at page 6 now!

I'm convinced! I've been following this thread for a while now and being a busy mum working full-time, am now wondering why I don't already have one!

I've got £20 of Amazon vouchers from RPoints and Juicybrains....so want to order a slow cooker from there. There are two that look pretty good, one has the capability to cook 2 separate dishes at a time (just a little concerned that I might not be able to get a joint of meat in it though), however both only have 2 heat settings, low and high. Do any of you think this might be a problem? Is a medium setting beneficial to have?

    TIA folks :A

Addy - I'd be tempted to wait until the Morphy Richards 6.5L one comes back in stock. Unless you regularly eat 2 dishes at the same meal that would necessitate the use of separate dishes, then I would say one large bowl would be best - esp as you can cook large joints/chickens in them.

I have to say, I don't think I've used the medium setting on mine yet - usually high to give it a blast if I'm late putting it on or just low all day. Mind you, if you get the option for the same money - go for it.

Aye, what she says above ;):p

Also, with the large one you can always sit a smaller dish inside if you want to cook something separate. I've done it a few times if I wanted to do veg or spuds separate to my meat and put it in a plastic bowl sitting on top of it :)

Ok, just put a concoction of left-overs in mine as I had a pack of mince in the fridge with today's use-by date on. Added spring onions (had no other onions left apart from one red one, which I want for the broccoli & apple soup tomorrow) mushrooms, a red chilli, 3 cloves garlic, half a red & green pepper and some cherry tomatoes. Also 2 tins value tomatoes and a tin of canellini beans and flavoured with a tsp of cumin, 1/2 tsp coriander powder (had no fresh) a tsp sugar, 2 tbsp tomato puree, a splodge of worcestireshire sauce and ermmmm ... think that was it, oh and salt & pepper of course, but I'll taste it later and see if it needs anything else. Any suggestions for anything I've missed out?

I've stuck it on high at the moment but not sure whether to turn it low and leave it overnight, all being well I don't get hungry later and want some as I've only had 2 bowls of soup all day  ... also not sure what time, or if, son is home this evening from his dads, as he's not back to school till Wednesday, so don't know if he'll want to eat later either. How long would it take if I left it on high as I've never used this setting throughout a meal yet
