I cooked a chilli overnight night before last, have to say that the smell was a bit off putting first thing in the morning. Put my son right of his cocoa shreddies. Not sure I would do it again, although I have a recipe for caramalised onions that I might consider doing overnight before a barbi!£2.00 Savers Club = £34.00 So Far
+ however may £2 coins I have saved in my Terramundi since 2000.

It crossed my mind this morning while putting a chicken in that if I'd done it overnight I would have more time during the day to prepare the various meals it will be made into and either freeze or pop in the fridge for re-heating later for dinner.
I'm pretty crap at getting myself organised enough to prepare meals for the slow-cooker first thing in the morning so doing overnight might work out better for me, not to mention taking advantage of the ecomony 7 electricity :money:
I use mine quite a lot overnight to make things in advance. like many peoplehere I have good days and bad days in terms of being able to achieve everything I would like to achieve, so I take advantage of the good times to provide for the not so good times.

Just cooked jacket potatoes in slow cooker but it was a disaster! What am I doing wrong? I had to put them in the microwave. I wrapped them in foil and put them in 1cm of water (was too scared not to) and put them on Medium for 5 hours. Is that too short a time? They were no way near done.0

With regard to recipes for slow cookers, try this one

The recipes are all rated so you know you won't be getting a dud and people give their hints and tips on tweaking the recipe to suit.
Also, when it comes to cleaning the actual crockpot, don't allow it to sit in water as over time the pot will weaken and it will crack. The rim around the bottom is usually unglazed and will weaken if left in water. I just rinse out the worst and then soak for a little while“Ordinary riches can be stolen, real riches cannot. tiff wrote:I find it easier to use American cups. My scales and the bowl that sits on it are at the back of the cupboard as the bowl is so big, so I find it easier to have the cups at hand. Sometimes though in a recipe it would be easier if they said 2 chopped carrots rather than 1 cup of chopped carrots, if you see what I mean.
Just a thought ... if you have a food processor, you could slice/grate your carrots, onions, cheeses, cabbage etc. when you get home from the shops then store them ready in the fridge in a sealed bag/plastic tub. Only takes a few minutes and would make for easier measuring if you prefer the cup method. Any leftovers in the tub/bag ... soup!~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
