any !!!!!! coke type pop will do.
You don't have to scour the local cheap shop for Rola cola (is that even a brand?, I just got it off Peter Kay, he's sooo funny)

ROFL!!! .... it was amusing to start with but when I actually sat and looked at it (while eating brekkie this morning!) it made me feel quite sick so thought I'd better not inflict people with it anymoreHave you tried this yet. I have been dying for someone to try and make it, and let me know if its worth it. I was thinking of doing it at christmas, but never got round to it.
In her latest book, she uses Cherry Coke!
No, not tried it yet but I might do when my slow-cooker arrives. Not sure about cherry coke, but then I'm not sure about the coke full-stop yet! LOL!
I'll have to check her books again to see if she's actually written up the recipe for the blackbean soup she referred to as it would be a waste not to use the sauce, unless it freezes ok."An Ye Harm None, Do What Ye Will"

In this book "Feast", she says-:
I hate throwing anything away, but felt the stock would be too sweet to make soup; so tried cooking red cabbage in it, and it was wonderful. If you're cooking the ham in advance (give it slightly less time to cook, let it cool in the liquid and leave in the fridge overnight before stripping the rind and proceeding with the glaze, for approx 40 minutes at gas mrk6/200c), you could eat the red cabbage with it. Otherwise use later. Bring the ham stock back to the boil, add 2 tablespoons red wine vinegar and 1 head red cabbage, shredded. Cook for approx 1-1¼ hours at a steady simmer, covering the pan if losing too much liquid.Only 5% of those who can give blood, actually do!

Ooooh, I'm really getting in to this now. Has anyone cooked a whole chicken in the slow cooker? If so what do you think is the biggest size that can be cooked in a 6.5 litre cooker? How do you do it?
So far cooked - Boeuf Bouginion, Morroccan Chicken and Bolognese - all lovely.
TIA Stella0 -
I ended up having dinner out but mum ate some of the sausage surprise and loved it (hoorah - guess I dont have to cook for her for the rest of the week

Hi Stella, I've cooked a whole chicken in the slow cooker and a large joint of pork, my cooker is the same size as yours. The chicken was about 1.5 kg but you could put a larger one in. I added an inch of water to the crockpot and put the chicken in on low for hours. It just disintegrated when I took it out! My husband loves meat from the slow cooker, whether its cooked in a sauce or a joint on its own. You could stuff the chicken with lemons to add a nice flavour“A budget is telling your money where to go instead of wondering where it went.” - Dave Ramsey0 -

Is your slow cooker the same as the one I have just ordered and am waiting for impatiently - the 6.5 litre Morphy Richards?
I am really missing having a slow cooker and it has only been a few days."This site is addictive!"
