OK, I am all set for cooking my chicken tomorrow this is what I have planned.

I am going to chop up one onion and place it in bottom of slow cooker. I will then place two carrots at the bottom of cooker to sit chicken on. I am then planning to heat a large pan and quickly brown chicken on all sides. I will then stuff half a lemon and half an onion into the cavity. Finally I will season the chicken with salt and pepper and place it on the carrots, chuck in one glass of wine and leave it on low all day.

Is that going to be ok?

Great, I'll leave the rest of the Twit family with some sliced beef in gravy and I'll be round for a chicken dinner.
I'm jealous really, my slow cooker is too small to hold a chicken, I can get a small piece of beef in, well, stood on end. :D

As long as it's wet, I've no preference.

So, if it's chicken tomorrow, done in the SC, when are you cooking the ham hock?

I've just been looking at the Sillfield Farm link posted on that thread....I was contemplating visiting tomorrow, then I thought the barginanimous ham hock would be pretty expensive by the time I've paid for petrol...hmmmm...better visit Sainsbugs instead. :o

All-hours, in the slow cooker, things tend to make their own liquid.
I've cooked beef with only a drop of water to cover a bit of veg in the bottom.

I do like my slow cooker for that reason, I know things won't boil dry and I can leave them on all day.
