Hi Everyone
Just returned from my holiday, was really surprised at how much the cost of things has gone up in the last two years in vegas.
This includes :food, shows, hotel rooms. The casino's have stopped paying out in real coins with the slots, and now you only get a paper voucher which you cash in using one of the atm's in the casino. It loses something for me, as I loved collected my coins in the bucket!
Still a wonderful place to visit, but with the constant and ever changing strip the traffic is horrible! To go from one end to the other in a car took us over 15 minutes and the strip is only 2 1/2 miles long!
Saw Louie Anderson - American Comedian at the Exclaibur, well worth seeing, never laughed so hard in my life!
Other shows were just as good, however, the prices are up there, and the drinks whilst you are at the shows range from $5 for a pepsi to $12 for a g & T, a strawberry daquiri at Celin Dion cost me $25 at Ceasers Place, to say the least I tried to enjoy that drink!
However, there is some good news, clothes are a bargain, I paid £13 for Levi jeans, and the gap stuff for my kids ranged from £2-10 each item, a third of what you pay here in the UK.
Casinos haven't changed much, and as a non-smoker would like them to ban smoking but think it would be highly unlikely.
The buffets have nearly tripled in price in the last two years!
Anyone going have a nice trip!

Oh no, what have they done to the casinos
Its all that din from the slots that makes it exciting for me.
Its seven years since we last went and we were thinking of going again
but I don't think we'll bother.
Doesn't it cost over £100 for tickets to see Celine Dion ?
Then they have the nerve to charge you $25 for a drink.
Is that "Legends" show still going at the Imperial Palace ? Or is that another hotel thats bitten the dust. I can't keep up with all these new hotels.:rotfl:
Glad you enjoyed your holiday.0 -
We love Vegas but have not been since 2002 .. last time we went I got a deal that meant our room (Imperial Palace) for 3 nights, breakfast and entry to Legends came to £22.43 (for both of us).
You have put me in the mood for a quick trip .. might see if I can find a deal somewhere

I am just back (2days ago) I have been 5 times in last 9 years
I hope to post some pics later as Tretts would like to see.
I am not sure I entirely agree with the OP.
Vegas can be as cheap or as expensive as you want.
Traffic is certainly the worst I have experienced.
Hotels costs i stayed in Paris for $99 a night Flamingo for $60 a night and Circus circus for $44 a night and with the rate at $2 a pound I dont think that is expensive for the type of room you get and no more expensive than last year or 4 years ago.
Buffets had not increased in price since last year and using vouchers from the ACG and LVA I never paid full price, having enough for bogof for the whole trip.
If you are on a budget head to Terribles for the $4.99 breakfast buffet
For a very cheap and good meal go to Ellis Island for the steak special, 2 courses for $4.99.
The tickets from the slots (same as last year) doesnt bother me as I mostly play roullette.
The only show we went to was Mamma Mia..half price from tix4tonite, but didnt have a drink there.
All my drinking was done with coupons from AVG and LVA for free or while I was gambling, again for free ( $1 tip for drink so not quite free).
My flights were less than £300, room rates as posted, and didnt spent to much, wife did buy some designer bags and shoes to spoil that a bit lol.
Like I said it can be as cheap or as expensive as you want, but I do Vegas on a budget and I believe there is no where else in the world I can have that much fun and get the same standard of accom for as little money0 -

We were there in January and OH commented on how quite the casinos were compared to the previous visit about 7 years ago. It didn't dawn on me at the time but that probably the reason why.
It's probably a way for them to make more money too. I didn't cash out my winnings I kept the paper voucher from the Golden Nugget Casino as a souvenir but then it was only 35 cents :rotfl:0 -
we're for Vegas for our honeymoon next Tuesday, staying in the Gold Coast, it's our first visit so we're really looking forward to it I've been reading the forums on Tripadvisor for a year. We're planning on travelling out with the bare minimum of clothes and filling up on clothes and trainers out there. Is there any electrical shops in the outlet malls as i fancy buying some gadgets while i'm there if they are cheap - mp3 player etc.?0

I got back two weeks ago, stayed at the Mandalay Bay and had a fantastic ime. Yes the Casinos paid out in tickets but it was still fun. The buffets were alot more expensive than my last visit in 2000 but thats to be expectedand in my opinion still terrific value. I love Vegas and cant wait to go back again. If anyone has the chance go and see Zumanity at New York New York. The show was amazing and the actors really worked the audience up it was great fun. I have been very lucky as I won both my holidays to Las Vegas in competitions so as they say things come in three's I will be entering every Vegas competition I can find to make it a hat trick. Viva Las Vegas.Competitions wins 2010

Clothes are cheaper but beware the washing of them ... American clothes often are not used to being washed in warm water. On the gadget front just make sure that any power supplies will work with 220V.

Check out those websites for a list of coupons included with each.
You can buy the Americancasinoguide at any station casino and at the offices of LVA. It costs around $16 but saves you much more than that and depending how many buffets you want you can sign up at the LVA website for $37 a year and pick up their pocket book of value at their office, again you can save a lot more than the cost of the book.0 -

I would advise a car if you are staying at the Gold Coast altho they do run a shuttle to the strip.
i pods are cheaper but I guess you will get and american two pin plug on the charger. From memory I think there is an Apple shop in the fashion show mall0
