confused with EDF switch

You will get an e-mail stating when and how much the first and subsequent DDs will be. They quote separate G&E amounts and you will probably have the elec one taken at some random date first and then both at the normal monthly date. Is there nothing mentioning DD dates or opening reads needed in your "My Messages" ?

Just got 2 messages...

They will start supplying my electricity from 9 November.

They will take £34 at the end of November and then £34 on the 10th each month... Still nothing about gas. I imagine once gas is set up it will be £70 to be paid on 10th each month.

Watch your bank balance for the money going. When I transferred to them they failed to set up the DD (blamed the bank of course!) and took nothing for 2 months. I eventually realised that, got it set up and paid off the balance that had accrued.
Also be prepared for a statement online after you enter a reading, saying they are increasing your DD. You have to phone them up to get the increases cancelled, otherwise it'll just go through on the next payment.
They know their system does that and IME have no problem putting the DD amount back where it should be - assuming you're paying enough to cover your annual usage of course.
