confused with EDF switch

I was supposed to be switched to EDF from 8 November (electricity), 16 November (gas).. I was about to give EDF my meter readings the day after tomorrow.. But today I logged in t my edf sife and noticed this. The date pushed to 5 December??

I'm not sure how to understand this. For 3 weeks the website was saying that electricity registration was in progress and now it's back to "is about to be registered"??!

Can somebody explain?

It says it's Nearly there according to that....
Don't believe everything EDF's online system tells you though. When I transferred to them, the status screen said my gas account started on 11//2/21/0. No amount of manipulating that could come up with the real start date. :)

As above, my dates on that screen were all over the place. Believe the dates in the e-mails you received.
  • So I presume it's not time to give my meter readings yet :|

Let the dust settle first. :)
Then if you do give readings, enter them shortly after your monthly DD has gone through (if that's how you're paying), then you have plenty of time to object to, and get put back to something normal, the probably ridiculous increase to the DD they'll say they're going to do. That's been my experience anyway.

For some reason unknown to the rest of mankind, EDF can never manage to do an incoming dual fuel switch on the same day for each fuel.
I've never had this issue with any other supplier.

I will be paying by DD and they will be taking £70 a month.. If they take anything more than that then sorry but I didn't agree for that and I will claim it back under Direct Debit guarantee.

By the way.. are the payments taken in advance? I mean first payment from day 1?

It's the first time I switch.. ever. I don't really know why they cannot do it on the same day :|

From the Direct Debit Guarantee details on EDF's website:
If the amounts to be paid or the payment dates change EDF Energy Customers plc will notify you 10 working days in advance of your account being debited or as otherwise agreed.

So they can and will change it as they deem necessary(!) but will give you at least 10 days notice.
AFAIK, you can choose the day of the month they take it.

    It's not a fixed £70 per month...

By day 1 I meant the switch day.

They agreed the payment will be 70 quid a month.. I cannot imagine they will be trying to increase it within first few months.. especially now in winter months it is obvious the usage is slightly higher. I gave them exact annual usage figures when I got my quote. I won't pay silly money over 100 quid a month for sure. Especially if they take first payment on the day of the switch. That will mean I am already in credit.

With BG I was paying quarterly for what I used. I don't mind giving meter readings and being charged exactly for what I used. But I won't be happy to pay for out of nowhere high figures that will be pushing my account high in credit for their convenience.
