Yeah I know. The thing is I was actually nearly a month ahead on rent (paying more than I should, had very little debt (£500 overdraft) everything else was up to date. I had just opened a savings account with my bank for the exact reasons you have said.

Then I made the biggest mistake of my life (apart from the first wife!!:D), I joined up with the company that forgot to tell me they weren't going to pay.

If only the High Court Enforcement or ACAS could have retrieved even some of the money owed to me earlier then I would be ok.

Have you not tried a garnishee order? It can work wonders when they find their bank account frozen, as they can't get paid until they pay you.

  • I've not heard of that before "garnishee order" but it sounds like something similar to whats happening now with the HCEO.

He basically has to pay them directly and then I get paid by them.

If he fails to comply to the order they have set up this time I will speak to them and ask if it is something we can go ahead with. Cheers
  • SORTED!! :j:T:beer::D
Left a message with 2 friends as it went to answer phone when I called to ask for help.

They both called me back and BOTH offered me the money, so I accepted half from each so it wouldn't be so painful on them.

Thank you for all of the information provided in this thread, it has been an eye opener. :kisses:

  • Glad it worked out for you.

I don't mean any disrespect but please ensure you pay these people back - the number of threads on this board where friends/family don't pay back is frightening!

  • Yeah the money will be paid back . One payment end of November and the other end of December. My mates said pay it back whenever, but I want to get it back to them asap and i've budgeted for it. :D

    Cool dude!
  • Cheers opinions4u,
I'll post on here like a few others with my monies owed i.e rent arrears, borrowed money and show a break down to when it clears.
It'll be a good feeling as I know it is for the rest.
This is a great site and forum by the way, very informative. :money:
  • Fantastic, well done. Good luck with the new job. By the way, did you claim statutory redundancy pay direct from the government or hadn't you been there long enough?
I'm a qualified accountant but please make sure you get expert advice as any opinion is made in a private capacity.
