So what the OP is saying basically is:
I don't have anything, and I've no means of getting anything. How do I get something?
He's also saying: I've been earning £2k a month until I lost my job in August (just over two months ago) and I don't have a penny saved up for any emergencies.
In addition: I've also been on an IVA so my credit record is shot to pieces.
To be honest, there's not a lot any of us can recommend apart from asking friends or family to bail you out, because no (decent) loan company is going to."There are not enough superlatives in the English language to describe a 'Princess Coronation' locomotive in full cry. We shall never see their like again". O S Nock0 -

I think you're right. But it's worth noting, you're the first person on this thread to actually suggest the OP looks to friends for a loan...0 -

I was Opinions4u who first mentioned it, the OP says his mum has recently died and his step dad is in a secured old folks home.0 -

I understand how you think i'm a loser poppasmurf_bewdley but the reason I am in the position is because my previous employer failed to pay me 2k per month. Then 10 or so weeks on JSA at £71 per week.
So basically working it all out from 1st June i've had to live on about £100 per week. My rent is £104 per week and I didn't start getting Housing / Ctax Benefit until end of August when I finally signed on after all of the promises from my boss were empty.
Anyway, I have taken all of your advice on board and fingers crossed I won't get in to this position again. Cheers0 -
have you spoken to the benifits folks they may be able to help with the months wait.0

Hi pauletruth,
Yes spoken to Benefits and they are not interested. I asked about a Job Grant to see me through until payday but because I haven't been unemployed long enough I do not qualify.
Another thing that irritated me when I was unemployed was that it cost me £7 bus fare every 2 weeks to "sign on" and couldn't claim it back. I asked if I could sign on online but couldn't even though they closed our local Job Centre.
I also asked if I could claim back £30 in fuel which it cost me to get to 3 interviews (borrowed my daughters car as I don't own a car. The job I had before I started with the last company came with a company car). I was told no due to lack of funds! It's all worked out locally apparently. So that was about 40% of my benefit gone just for trying to find work.
Sometimes I think the system is set up for the people who don't bother trying to help themselves!!!0 -
To be fair, it does seem that a multitude of things has stacked against you, and I hope somehow you can find someone willing to tide you over for a couple of hundred quid or so until your first pay day.
But it does also drive home the usual sound advice that you should choose to build up some emergency savings while times are good, to fall back on if ever the times are bad, like now.
It's all well and good helping others out, but not if it can end up to your detriment, because, as you are finding, often when the boot is on the other foot, no-one is interested in helping you out.
As a certain Mr. Springer often likes to say, "take care of yourself, and each other", in that order. A touch (but not too much) of selfishness is often best.“In any moment of decision the best thing you can do is the right thing, the next best thing is the wrong thing, and the worst thing you can do is nothing at all.” - Roosevelt0 -

Never did I say you were a loser. What I did was sum up what you had put in your opening post. If you wish to draw the conclusion that you are a loser from reading my summary, then I cannot stop you. However, I would suggest a better course of action would be to stop feeling sorry for yourself, get off your backside and go do as I suggested - speak to friends and relatives and see if they can bale you out. Sitting there saying "woe is me" won't solve anything."There are not enough superlatives in the English language to describe a 'Princess Coronation' locomotive in full cry. We shall never see their like again". O S Nock0 -
Yeah I know. The thing is I was actually nearly a month ahead on rent (paying more than I should, had very little debt (£500 overdraft) everything else was up to date. I had just opened a savings account with my bank for the exact reasons you have said.
Then I made the biggest mistake of my life (apart from the first wife!!:D), I joined up with the company that forgot to tell me they weren't going to pay.
If only the High Court Enforcement or ACAS could have retrieved even some of the money owed to me earlier then I would be ok.0
