Offer from Orange (now EE)

EE just called offering to reduce my line rental if I switched to them from BT. And also slightly reduce the broadband fee.
My EE broadband currently costs £12 month including evening and weekend calls.
I said I could reduce my BT line rental anyway if I paid upfront at which point she went on about the benefits of having it all on one bill.
What I didn't mention was that I was looking at other providers/packages anyway.
I asked her if she could confirm what they were offering via email so that I could think about it - at which point she said it wasn't actually an offer - they were just trying to save me money
So basically unwilling to send me anything - though of course I would get confirmation details having agreed over the 'phone.
. She said she would ring back tomorrow.
Far be it from me to look a gift horse in the mouth but imo this is pressure selling and it makes me suspicious. Am I missing anything here? A tie in maybe....
I just don't get that they are unable to put something down in black and white (well email anyway) while I think about it
