Winter cycle clothing bargains?

Hello all. As the evenings are getting colder I'm finding myself far less motivated to get out on my bike! Some winter gloves, a merino long sleeved top and something to keep my legs warmer would probably help.

Base layers in particular seem to be quite steep. I suspect that there's a premium for cycle specific clothing. Where do you all buy your stuff?

If anyone has any recommendations I'd be grateful.

Keep an eye out in Lidl/Aldi. They quite often do cycling stuff cheap (as well as motorbike stuff) on occasions. Got some base layer stuff for on my motorbike and haven't had any problems with it (would avoid the motorbike helments though - personal preference)

People have also recommended Decathlon to me. I've never bought their cycling gear - only a tent once - so it's not a personal recommendation, just a second-hand one.

Sports Direct have been selling cycle accessories very cheaply, including cycling gloves, if that's more convenient.

Wiggles own brand DHB is not bad - I've a couple of merino wool tops (long and shorts sleeves) that I wear quite often

I knew some in the local cycling club who was always wanting to get rid of clothes or they know someone who was clearing out the closet.

For the legs

I have heard that Fishermen and bikers have been going to Boundary Mills (Colne, Shiremoor (North Tyneside), Rotherham, Grantham and Wallsall) and getting ladies thermal tights from there because they are quite good and don't have the premium price to be branded "manly".

If anyone is interested, I will get the details of the stuff that has been suggested.

TKMaxx is always worth a visit at this time of year. They had racks of baselayers a few weeks ago.
