The word criminal has a clear and well understood meaning.
The fact that you claim to have meant something else (and calling a defendant a criminal is hardly a subtle change) is neither here nor there. You referred to an accused as if he had been convicted and trying to weasel your way out of it by claiming that when you used the common word 'criminal' you meant something different won't wash.
I suggest that you remember that well know piece of advice: "When you have dug yourself into a hole: stop digging".
So a man found guilty of a crime in a court of law is then taken to court again for a second offence. Is he a criminal? He's been found guilty of the first offence but not the second.
Again you are resorting to a straw man argument....This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
For the accused to have a guilty mind it would be necessary to show that he knew that no contract had been formed.
Obviously you don't know what will happen in any given court on any given day. But it's reasonable to assume that he would be convicted.0 -
Vouchers/gift cards are just a 'promise' in effect, and only a 'legal' promise if they [the issuers] are still running the business at the time the voucher is 'cashed in'.
By having a gift card/voucher you are effectively a creditor to the company. Exactly the same as if you were a supplier that they owed money to, or a bank.
Unfortunately, as they are now in administration, usually the larger fish (i.e. banks) will be the first to take any money from the company possible. With individuals (whoever holds the gift card), being the last to be able to dip their hand in the pot.
So going in, slapping a gift card down on the and counter and walking out with goods to that amount would theft. If they allowed it then they would be in trouble for 'preferring' a certain creditor.
You just need to join the queue of creditors.0 -

Not all of them ... I would imagine the lions share of gift vouchers held are those issued by insurance companies. However I presume that if these aren't accepted that we will go back to insurance companies.0
