Phones4u at currys deal

Saw that phones4u are offering up to £370 to use at Currys depending on contract. Looks hard to find out how much you will actually receive. Phones4u seem a decent outfit, so thought i'd ask if anyone had tried this.

You're the first person to have come to that conclusion I fear. P4U are notorious for rejecting those who wish to return handsets within 14 days, even if the networks themselves will allow it!

Interesting. They like to show Their status of 'Best hight street retiler of the year'. Still, the offer might be worth it.
  • If they're giving you £370 in vouchers - you're definitely being overcharged on the contract

Well, doing a price comparison, they seem OK. HTC One X is not really any different than other offers, looking at comparison sites. I just didn't want to sit down for 30 minutes of hard sell, so haven't delved into the deal very deeply. It does sou nd to good to be true, and if it sounds too good....

Posting a link to the offer you want to discuss helps !!!
  • I can't find it online - it was advertised at Currys itself.

Depends on the deal, it will be a lowish cost handset and a high margin tariff - likely to hit an accumulator with a network. As others have said, they don't do 14 day returns (every customer signs to agree to this in store, but it's still a shock to many to learn that they should read what they sign) but aside from that, they are no better or worse than many other places to buy a phone.

They are doing a similar deal in high street stores - up to £350 instant cash
  • Thanks thatsean. I will go and have a chat - i expect you are right about the handset/tariff

NP, if you go in asking for an Iphone on a £36 tariff they will likely giggle at you, all depends on what is right for you. Am sure they will have a range of Androidy phones on a £40-£50 range that will include buckets of everything, and some cash. Also, check how long it takes the gift card to activate; when I worked for them (as the commercial manager for the Direct channel years ago - disclaimer!) It took 24-48 hrs for them to work - although they might have a faster solution now.
