Quidco Cashback ordering online - asked to confirm details- will invalidate cashback?
Options
Dear All
Does anyone know, I am buying a new mobile online and went through Quidco - I have received an email asking me to call to confirm some details. If I do so, will it invalidate the Quidco Cashback as it could be seen as not completing the order completely online?
If yes, I may call to find out what the issue is (in case it is something stupid like I have missed something off the application form!) and if it is something simple like that, I may then cancel and re-order!

Yes, it is pretty likely to invalidate the cashback. I believe that some companies do this deliberately to avoid paying it.
However, beware that if it is a contract, canceling and reordering has a drawback of a repeated credit check.0 -
Three asked for a deposit of £150 up front which is nearly the total amount that I would be paying for two years after cashback .
Off to see my credit file to find out what the issue is, though I believe I am clean - or are Three known for being funny? Nothing on my credit file and a very high credit score?
I have a 30 day Sim that I cancelled last month (which was used as a tester) and the Rottweiler somehow pursuaded me to do it as a Sim-Zero or something rather than completely cancel (so effectively £0 per month but available if I need it). Would that cause a complication?
Many thanks

Only if you were migrating your number - in which case it would be treated as an upgrade and not a new connection, which would probably affect th Cashback.
Simply confirming your details however, would not stop the offer tracking.0 -

Thank you. I phoned to find out that Three apparently want a £150 deposit which will be refundable in 12 months. I have a completely clear credit record and high credit score (I checked today). So I wondered if having a 30 day sim that I cancelled last month would have caused them to block my contract? I have cancelled the order as I am not lending Three £150 for a year!
Never had any credit or mobile contract refused before so this is a new one on me.
Many thanks

I've known it happen twice with the people I order for. Both had poor credit history so it wasn't a surpirse. Never had it happen apart from that - but have been declined (for having had too many contracts in a very short space of time!).
I sometimes have to call cpw companies before the contract is confirmed; it has never affected the cashback.0 -
Thanks MJ - I am not sure why I have been pcked for this treatment as I double checked today and have a clear credit record. The only reason could be the 30 day SIM for one month but why that should warrant a £150 deposit I don't know - my previous contracts are 18 months and 2 years ago.
The key for me this time is unlimited data which I think limits my options to Three, T-Mobile Full Monty or Virgin, about £8 per month, but none come close in price to the deals I have been used to for many years (close to £0 due to Cashback).

Well, cashback deals have receded once more. For the first half of the year they were hard to find, then for about 2-3 months there were some decent ones (and I grabbed what I could while they were around) but looks like a lean period. With the best deals you never know when they may come again; there is no pattern with the seasons or months. I had hoped there might be some appearing to compete with 4G, but it seems to have gone the other way - for now. I have two unlimited internet contracts and one with lots of minutes (a different one) - but I am already getting twitchy about extending my free use beyond their termination (even though two of them aren't for about 6-8 months and the other more like 18). Fortunately by having as many contracts as I can get regardless of the timing and type of existing ones I've never been forced to actually PAY anything for my internet, calls, texts or phones. I hope to maintain that well into the future.
Earlier this year you could have got profitable contracts with unlimited internet on T-Mobile; maybe in future you'd be wise to grab what's there (after all, they're all better than free) WHEN they're there, rather than waiting until you actually NEED them as the vast majority of people do! But, then - most people are quite happy to pay for their contracts (I know you aren't!).0 -

Can I ask - as the leading cashback guru round here do you have a preferred screenscraper site that you check for cashback deals? I usually use www.mobileswizard.co.uk amongst others but it's not foolproof. So many of the sites insist you decide which handset you want, or how many millions of texts you want, before letting you run a search (as in, duh, I couldn't give a monkeys - all I care about is the overall monthly cost should be zero!!) Oh for the good old days of Reestit Mutton!0 -
I use several. That one seems to b a generic programme sued by more than one - e.g. one called mobiles4everyone is exactly the same format and graphics
I have found some sites seem to disappear after a while. No one site produces the best deals at any given time - and some sites show deals which don't actually exist.
The cheapest deal I'm aware of at present is about 83p after cashback.
I have another (my main) contract ending early next month and have been unable to find a suitable alternative at all this year. Other contracts each offer various (different) advantages e.g. loads of minutes, unlimted data or the biggest overall profit - but I am going to have to use one of those and live without voicemail (they all charge for it and my main current contract doesn't). Don't need many minutes or texts and have no use for the internet on that one, BUT I do use voicemail and won't actually PAY for it!
Coincidentally, got three cashback cheques in the post today - nice to have more coming in most months than going out. Many of my current contracts are actually in profit, so the running costs/cash-flow is largely positive rather than negative.
You may well find problems when relying on finding a free deal at the time a current contract ends. I have a minor problem but there simply hasn't been a profitable opportunity to avoid it for the whole of the last 12 months. Still - you never know what may be JUST around the corner!!0 -
