using another talktalk modem

Can you use someone elses talktalk modem.
Im with talktalk anyway so could i just swap over etc or do i have to change any settings.
I'm on a old none wireless type and the others wireless.

You can use any modem you like, it doesn't have to be a TalkTalk- supplied one. You'll need to put in your own username and password settings, that's about all.
I assume that you are referring to a wireless modem/router, which is what you''ll need on a TT ADSL connection?
TT won't support a non-TT one, but then their 'support' is about as much use as a chocolate teapot anyway .

You won't even need to speak to TT support - there is an automated system on 0870 0875 562 when you phone through to get your username/password.

Your username will just be (your_tel_number)@talktalk.net

The rest of the settings are standard for TT

I looked in the settings for the username password etc and it says01warehouse@talktalk and hidden password.
Do i just change these to my own.
Also im just plugging the router direct in the ethernet on the computer but didnt use the disc talktalk sent as it seemed to work without using it.

Connect by ethernet and change the settings to your own.
No, you don't need to install anything from the CD.
