I just typed out a huge post and closed the browser by accident :'(

    Basically:

    Exams over, woop!

No big OP news. No spare cash :( Payday Friday :D

Hate my job, nearly quit over last few days. Can't afford to if I want to make OPs and not ruin my savings. Must stick it out and not be silly.
Possible new job in Jan with benefits, shares, work from home, higher hourly rate, better working conditions. Holding out for that, fingers and everything else crossed!

Must stop being so wasteful, need to get finger out on batch cooking. Freezer is tiny, need to see about freezer chest thingy-ma-bob.

Also loving the hot water bottles right now :D

Keep going, keep going, keep going, keep going, keep going, keep going :D.

  • Morning Calfuray, no idea whether this will help but each month, I sit and make a menu plan for the following month. It's on a spreadsheet and has columns for recipe book and page if I need to cook specifically, a column of what to take out of the freezer when, plus treats which need to be made ie cakes for lunch boxes etc.

It takes about an hour, I do a quick inventory of the freezer, larder aka garage, then cuppa by my side, I plan.

This has stopped us buying takeaways apart from as a treat, it's reduced waste, saved £, but also saved time. Not so easy if you have a small freezer but you could make base meals, mince and onion as an example, that could be turned into a variety of meals quickly.

    Good luck on your journey

Thanks :) And that sounds like a brilliant idea. I was having a look online and a chest freezer is only ~100, so might be a good investment. I think it would be a good idea to have meals ready to go for term time too, that's when I usually get way too much takeaway 'cause I don't want to waste time cooking :/

    Thanks for the support :)
  • Hi! - Just to say do not worry about small payments, as you can see, slowly does it! Each payment you make is saving you interest for the length of the product, do not despair!

Thanks :) I do just need to remember that!! :o
  • And as you said on the front page, saving a few hundred quid actually means you save a lot move in terms of the total cost you will repay - that for me what the real incentive, knowing that every £20 you save is actually a total saving of £60 - suddenly (I know it's thinking long term) the savings short term suddenly add up - and as you've seen cutting the end date by 6 months is amazing :) Keep it up
