Really thats more of selection from a number of different menu options. Its as much 'playing a game on a dvd player' as say.. 'try and hit the pause button just as XYZ happens during the film' would be a game on a dvd player.
Mad Dog McCree and Dragon's Lair involve more than selecting a menu option for a start.
Many of those games are ported from older Laserdisc and CD-based systems such as the CDi, Amiga CD32 and the Sega Mega CD where they were considered top games in their day.
Your original statement of "You cant play games on a DVD player" is incorrect so now they're not games because you don't consider hitting buttons at a specific point in the on-screen animation a game even though the basic premise of gaming, going right back into the '70s, involves hitting buttons just as XYZ happens in the animation, Pac-man and Asteroids through to the Halo or GTA games.0 -

I have just had another email stating they made a mistake on the email they sent me it doesnt play 64 bit games only 8 bit games
still none the wiser
8-bit games would be akin to the kind of games we'd played in the '80s/'90s. 8-bit computers/consoles included the likes of the Sinclair Spectrum, Commodore 64/128, Nintendo Entertainment System and the Sega Master System. That doesn't necessarily mean you'll recognise the games on there as being those from the systems I mentioned. It just gives you an idea of the kind of thing you can expect.
Custardy's link shows a DVD player using software that resembles a cheap iPod alternative I saw last year. The operating system, while usable, was a complete mess with spelling mistakes galore. The whole system appeared to be in Engrish and translated by an online service rather than a real English speaker.0
