    Some companies like Fedex invoice after delivery. I'm not sure what happens if you don't pay. Possibly they would chase the sender for payment as they would have the choice of paying up or not using that carrier again.

    This is correct - I bought a camera lens from Hong Kong - I received the FedEx invoice for customs duty a couple of days after it was delivered.

    I spoke to ebay tonight and they have said that I do not need to pay the invoice and to contact DHL and show them the original posting to prove that I thought I was purchasing an item from the UK. The seller is also responsible for refunding me and I do not have to send the goods back to HongKong at my own cost it wouldbe at theirs unless they can provide a UK address for me to return to goods to. I will await her reply and if she does not agree to this then I will open a claim/dispute. Thanks for all the advice. Really put me off buying from ebay again though :(
