Mobile application issue

I installed a mobile app provided by my international calling card company. I dialed the international numbers which were supposed to be routed through to the calling card company. All the calls appeared to be routed through them as I could see the app come up and message of "the call is routed through xyz". I got bill from my service provider and all the calls have gone from my SIM card and the app has failed.

How can I claim this from the calling card company? I complained to them and they investigated the same and are not honoring the claim though they know that its their fault. I complained to Ombudsman and they refused to take the case giving reason that it is difficult to prove calls did not go through the application.

I doubt you can make them liable - the app may fail, but at issue is you attempted to make a call and it succeeded. The issue is it wasn't for the price you expected. The answer here is to check that it does work, as you may have had it set up incorrectly.

Incidentally, mobile networks dislike these services and do all they can to block useage (Orange, for example, routinely barred these numbers, carrying the call unbeknownst to the user - and billing them!).

I'd switch to an alternative that does work!

They made a dummy test call and confirmed the call is being routed through them after the app installation & after this assurance only I started making he calls using the app. I discovered that it is not working only when I got my huge bill.
