They just charged me £20 because i don't use the card.
The letter says i can close the account and claim it back.
Really, they want to get money by any possible means!

Was a 40 a day smoker for 20 years.
Decided to give up, and haven't had a fag for 12 years.
Halfway through losing six stone.
Looking forward to early retirement.

The dormancy fee is 1 year and it is clearly marked at the bottom of each statement.0 -
If it's in the terms, you agreed to it. It costs them money to service the account, produce the card and statements etc, so if you're not using it, they make no money.0

7.10 A Dormancy Fee of £20 per year will be payable by you if the aggregate amount of all
transactions, other than cash advances and balance transfers, that has taken place
during the preceding 12 months is £0.

I have also just been stung by this scam.
There was no email warning in advance - just a £20 fee on the statement.
When I took the card out in 2008 there was no such dormancy fee.
It was added in 2010 - unless you read the small print it was not at all obvious.
Even if you were aware, to me it is yet another way for big business to scam money from customers. It's rather like a supermarket charging you an extra £20 because you haven't shopped there for 12 months.
I've cancelled my account. American Express know where they can stick their card. :mad:0 -

They are always out there to get money from their clients. They have got some unique ways to to do so. Most of the people does not ask for details to them and they can add and delete their rules everyday.AntFrit0
