Which Honda mower do you have? Does it have a Honda engine or Briggs?

Honda engine. Not sure of the model, but it is a big hevy beast. Not one of the Izy models though. Has been a joy to use from the start.

I have one of the larger Izy Honda ones (the selp propelled one) and it is fantastic. But unless you have a big garden (and I do) then it would be overkill. One thing about the Honda is that even after being stood all winter, it starts first time, every time (except when I forget to put petrol in it).

I did have the Bosch 34 electric one before hand (bought it at my last house where the garden was much smaller) and it was great.

Jon If you are looking for a fairly cheap electric model then I think that this qualcast may fit the bill (I've just ordered one msyself)http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B0007P20WO/026-8919718-7527613 This is £10 cheaper than the same model at Focus

What cutting width do you have for your large garden? Does it have a roller?

I have the 53cm one (the largest in the range). No it does not have a roller.

I have a battery driven Environmower, which is Australian in origin, and is quiet, mulches grass and is more robust than battery mowers from UK - chekc out the website

Just bought a Mountfield 53cm, self-propelled petrol, for £299 at Wyedale. Did the garden yesterday - very easy to control, and very quite. Easy to assemble, but no roller unfortunately. Went thru the long grass very easily.
So far, so good. Motor is Italian - so we will see.

Just bought a bosch rotak 40, I paid £109 for it. It's pretty handy, though I agree the grass collector is a bit of a faff when the grass is damp.

Does a good job, and its pretty tolerant of longer grass, it has a 1700W motor so recommended for medium sized gardens.

IMHO if you are going down the self propelled route then a petrol mower is great, if not consider the weight before making your mind up.
