No Phone signal but still have to pay for contract

  • I have not moved house but the signal on my virgin media stopped in my house. At first I was able to use in certain rooms but it gradually went to nothing. I could not take or receive calls in my house. I contacted Virgin Media tec support and they suggested various things but none worked and they said there was nothing they could do. I went to cancel my contract and was told I will be charged £250 and if I did not pay they would go to debt recovery. I have a perfect credit rating and so loathe to risk. Now have a perfect signal with vodaphone. Surely I should be able to get out of the contract if there is no signal with Virgin? How best to complain and has anyone else done so in relation to the service not being fit for purpose?

Do you still get a signal elsewhere? Like outside the house? Have you asked Virgin if there are any problems with transmitters in the area?

Unfortunately it isn't as simple as just saying no signal in a specific house means walking away from a contract.

Looks like a phone problem to me. Have you tried other handsets? What about other people on Orange/Tmobile/Virgin nearby?
  • My son got a phone with Orange last year. It was fine for a couple of weeks then he noticed he wasn't getting calls and wasn't able to get a signal quite often. He has been on the phone a few times but he gets passed from one to another and then the signal goes, either while he is talking to someone or when he has been left on hold. They never phone him back. He was, before buying the phone, told he would have a good signal, but tonight was told he is in a black spot. His wife is with O2 and has no problem with her signal.
