Every change we make takes a week or 2, we daren't make any sudden changes else it's all hands to the mop
Been there ....... you will find something that works for him - it's incredibly frustrating and you think you've got it cracked and then .... wham! (again).
Does it settle at all on the old fall back of chicken & rice (home made) - I ended up with Maisie on this for long periods between trying new foods and her tum always settled on this - so I knew there was something she could have - just obviously not practical / healthy for her just to have that all the time.Grocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)

Why do people always think runny poo means there's something in the diet causing it?
One of my dogs came to me with a 'sensitive digestion' and apparently could only tolerate Natures Menu chicken. He spent most of his day shut out in the garden.
When he joined us, he became a member of the family. My other dogs were on Skinners Duck and Rice (one had colitis brought on by wheat gluten). His 'runs' dissapeared almost immediatly and he's now on the Skinners too. He's maintaining a good outline and is no longer the thin ribby sad creature he was when he came. Please forgive me if my comments seem abrupt or my questions have obvious answers, I have a mental health condition which affects my ability to see things as others might.0 -
Have you tried a true exclusion diet? This wouldn't be any kind of commercial food but actually going out and getting a novel meal and carbohydrate source. If he's had lamb/fish/rice/potato you might want to go for something a little more unusual like turkey and quinoa, or rabbit and sweet potato. There's a bit more info in the links I posted earlier. The idea is you feed something the dog has never had before so its body hasn't had a chance to 'reject' it0

I'll look into it & thanks for the links... I don't get a lot of time during the week to do much "studying" so don't think I've ignored them.Always try to be at least half the person your dog thinks you are!0 -

I don't know if it is the cause but it's the most obvious. My vet is unsure also, she said it could be stress related but I can't find any stress trigger...Always try to be at least half the person your dog thinks you are!0 -

Surely the very fact that his tum settled down once he was put onto a food that obviously suited him - ie didn't have something in that upset his tum that could quite easily have been chicken which many dogs can't tolerate .... implies that it is more often than not diet related & it's a case of finding out what the problem is and what they can eat ......Grocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)

Equally possible .... Maisie got really upset when people came into the back garden (window cleaner etc) when she was first here which certainly could've been a factor - but thankfully seems to have got used to them now.
Exclusion diet is good - chicken & rice worked for us & we always fell back to it to settle things down. Unfortunately many dogs can't have one / both of these, it could just as easily be white fish & potato etc so it really is a case of finding what works for him. Thanks, I think I'll need it.
We also have his litter mate & she can eat anything with no reaction at all. I'm still in contact with the people I sold his brothers/sisters to & out of the whole litter (9) he's the only one with these problems, bless him!Always try to be at least half the person your dog thinks you are!0 -
My dog has natural yogurt every morning, usually keeps his tummy ok.0

Like others above I would suggest....
Probiotic supplementation, or a product such as Protexin Enterogenic complex,
Also, a single, novel protein and raw food...NO grains
