Replacement for LPG

Hello, Our new house has an LPG system which is 20 years old. I plan on replacing this when we move in and had initially just planned on a new more efficient oil-fired boiler. However, it has been suggested that we consider a pellet burner and that there may be grant help for this. I understand burning wood pellets is greener but have also heard that pellet burners can be expensive if not adjusted correctly (myth?) The house is in Aberdeenshire so I wondered if anyone had experience of putting in a pellet burner in Scotland or any advice on getting appropriate funding. (Regular mains gas is not an option). I'm happy to wait into next year if that helps with grants.

Apologies if I'm a bit vague but some general pointers would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Iain
