Sold pram as pick up only; buyer wanted me to post, but too big?

Hi there
I have sold a pushchair/ carrycot on ebay as pick up only. The buyer is in aberdeen I am in Nottingham so obviously made a mistake. But she has paid me & is arranging a courier to pick up the 2 items. But I have just checked the myhermes website & the 2 boxes are too big for their parcel service.
I have offered her a refund, but she hasn't replied. Is there anything else I can do but refund her & lose my ebay fees?
thanks

Do not let the buyer dictate terms.
If she organises a courier and then the item is lost or damaged, you will be forced to refund and you cannot claim from the courier.
Either do collection only, or courier at your arrangement. Ie you book you pay but you charge her.
Prams are one of the most highly scammed items, so be careful.0 -

If she's paid and is arranging pickup then let her do that. If she finds courier won't take it, that's her problem, she'll have to rearrange pickup. Why should you have to worry about her pickup method if she's paid already?*Look for advice, not 'advise'*

Never ever ever allow a buyer to arrange their own courier to pick up collection only items.
They can claim that it has not arrived and you cant prove that it has and be forced to refund.
Collection only items must be cash on collection or you arrange your own courier.0 -

Sorry to jump in, but could the buyer in theory pull a fast one by saying she hasn't received the pram, and the seller wouldn't be able to prove that she had sent it? That's if the buyer paid with paypal.0 -

Yes - only if the SELLER pays for the courier - can they prove they paid for delivery and sent the item. Also - as stated above - if it gets damaged or lost - the SELLER has to refund the buyer - and the BUYER can then also claim for the loss from the courier. The SELLER cannot claim from the courier (they are not the customer of the courier) - and get nothing.
Refund them and allow time for collection - as stated - then re-sell.
Buyer might leave a neg - but report them to ebay via the new report a buyer feature.0 -
Thanks guys, i was getting a bit confused about what to do for the best, so i will refund & try to sell again, will be much less hassle!Back after paying off DMP in 2014 - want to make sure debt doesn’t start creeping up again

sorry to jump in - I have done this lots of times for 'collection only' items (as a buyer) never had/caused a problem and buyers were all happy. If you arrange collection with a courier, the courier should have records so you can't say it hasn't arrived etc?0 -

No, because it's YOUR courier, so seller is relying on buyer's honesty.
OP, tell your buyer that you will only allow a courier if they pay CASH and offer a 2 hour collection slot. (And wrap it themselves).
If you'd offered a courier delivery then you would have sold it for much more! But you'd no doubt have the hassle of waiting round for the courier collection...Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -

Absolutely, i know the price is lower than if anyone could have bought it.

I'd be careful just refunding.
Some buyers are rather dim, and don't understand why some (most!) people won't accept a courier on collection items.
You could send a cancellation, but if they refuse, then you'll still end up paying fees, and the buyer could leave you a neg.
I'd phone up ebay and tell them you have a buyer who has bought an item that is collection only, but won't collect, and see what they say.
There was a case on here though where someone did indeed manage to send a courier who brought cash with them and turned up in a 1 hour collection slot!
Have you heard back from your buyer yet?Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
