Canceling sky - would I have freeview automatically?

Hi

I am thinking of cancelling Sky subscription to lower my outgoings. I have a skyplus box, was wondering if I did cancel, would I have free view automatically or would I need to purchase a new box?

It could still be used as a free view box, but any channels you have recorded will not be able to be viewed.

I think you meant to say "it could still be used as a Freesat from Sky box".

As above, you cannot get any Freeview channels via a satellite dish-Freeview is a terrestial service via an aerial.
You can see exactly which Freesat From Sky channels you will get simply by removing the viewing card from your box.

I did this and the + features still work! Have done for over a year. (Have not told Sky!)

I'm not exactly sure what the difference between freesat and freeview are, in all honesty.

But you can find out what you will get by (a) switching off your Sky box, (b) removing the viewing card, (c) switching on your Sky box.

We have a separate (basic non-recording) Sky box in a second room.

But the channel line up is similar.
