I think you've answered your own question.

I've been banned twice for no reason. The second time one of their oldest and most prolific posters Realistbear stated property in his area (West Sussex) was crashing. I provided statistical information proving it wasn't and was promptly banned without reason. Funily enough he dosen't post there any longer, as like many, he saw the light and bought.

As it celebrates it's 10th Birthday next year, I wonder how many on HPC will reflect on their stupidity? I bought my first home in 1982, moving to a bigger property in 1987. I'd paid my mortgage off in 1994, so Mortgage free,12 years after first buying :D

The likes of misfits such as Bruce Banner, Eric Pebble and their Cheerleader Jonathan (Houseprices will drop 40% - 50% 2007 - 2013) Davis represent a sad and deluded bunch. No doubt they'll still be chanting their same mantras 10 years from now.:rotfl:

I very much doubt realistbear is allowed to post anymore. He got to post that he'd bought, and a few follow ups but that was it; he was basically a Judas to them.

I kind of respected him for publicly throwing in the towel, but also chided him for buying after spending years telling other people not to. I got a lot of posts of flame from other members and my account didn't last long afterwards; neither did his tbh.

HPC.co.uk is a classic case of Groupthink, and all the danger's that this phenomenon entails:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Groupthink#Symptoms

It explains why so many of the contributors over there unquestioningly follow the herd (or "sheeple"), in holding out for the elusive House Price crash.

Just listen to the breathlessness of Rheinhard here in outlining his (ridiculous) decision to Sell To Rent in 2003:

I really feel for those who get suckered in by the views over there.

Nevertheless, it is one of the best places for economic/political debate and analysis.

    Er, no it isn't.

How can there be debate when anyone who does not share their desperate house price crash theories is not allowed to join in? The site is a joke, I do pop over there once in a while for a bit of light entertainment. :)

  • Best thing HPC could do now is to stop claiming it has an open forum discussing the possibilty of a property crash.
It would be better off openly stating that it was now just a site that discusses the arguments for a property crash and nothing else, and should you write them a post that they feel fits their beliefs they may or may not post it.

I do understand one of HPC's problems in that new members will sign up and mischief make and will have an agenda in attacking any property crash debate for their own gains, you just have to look on this board to realise that many posters can not/ will not debate. But it is no worse than one of the HPC tribe reporting back to base telling the rest of the cult that a property crash debate is happening at XYZ and that they should all go over there and disrupt things, which they constantly do.

I would love to know how many HPC members since 2003/04 have lost faith in the HPC message and gone ahead purchased. I would bet it is well over 50%.
