Splat had to visit the vet :(

  • Yay! Great to hear she's had a normal poop (yes, it is amazing how much these can be anticipated / longed for / inspected etc when you have pets lol).

Fingers crossed she's just eaten something she shouldn't and the antibiotics will sort her out!

My older cat did just that when very stressed by another cat. She also vomited pinky liquid like blood.
A course of Omeprazole ( crushed and mixed with Katalax was the only non stressy way to get it into her) and she was all fine about a week later.

Vets were expecting something more serious, but she is ok now 9 months later.

I often wonder if our pets think we are obsessed with their poos. First thing OH says when he comes back from their late night walk is to report on the number of poos for each mutt, lol. And of course, they must think we love the stuff when we rush to scoop it up as soon as they have done it.
  • Thanks for he replies! Glad to hear ur little one is better nigem!

Still worried about splat as since last night she hasn't been for a poop :( she would 'normally' have been about twice now, but she hasn't :/

How long is ok for a kitten not to go? Am I worrying over something I shouldn't be?

It may be due to the antibiotics. If she looks well dont panic. You can always ring the vet for reassurance. x
  • Scrap that! After writing my last post I went to the loo, and she has been!!! :D nice solid and no blood! I'm sooo relieved!!! :D well done splat baby!!!

Sorry to hear you have been so worried, it's amazing how baby animals (and humans) can bounce back in no time! :j

  • This sounds just like my cat last week. I was really worried as she had a runny tummy with a bright streak of blood in. The vets weren't too concerned and said it was probably just her unsettled tummy irritating her insides. She was seen by the vet nurse and given a probiotic and some bland prescripton pouches and was soon better. The vet nurse did emphasise that she should be brought back in if not better in a couple of days but she is happy as larry now. She's a lot older though.

So glad to here your little one is better! Splat has been fine since that first episode and today has pooped earlier than she had been so I'm feeling much better about her! Will finish we antibiotics and probiotics so if there is anything lurking then hopefully this will make sure everything is cleared up!

Here is a pic of her earlier when she made a gap at the end of the sofa and snuggled down into it!
