IB50 application form not responded to

I have Cronic Fatigue and been on I.B. for 20yrs. I have to fill in the IB50 form every 2 yrs. I returned the form in Dec. Since then they haven't communicated with me apart from the letter every one gets to say that the IB had gone up with inflation.

My question is do I have to inform them that they haven't replied to my application? Should they have replied by now or is 3 months not a long time to wait for a reply? The benefit is still being paid monthly into my bank. It would be wonderful to not have to fill this dreaded/complicated form in. They have misplaced my form before and on that occassion I told them! This time I'm tempted to keep quiet.

Thanks for your help

I would have thought you'd have heard by now if there was a problem.

If they're still paying it, then I would let it be.

Hello, I too have ME/CFS too. I had a DWP medical last November, and will get another IB50 form again this year.....don't quite know why as before I only needed to have a medical every three years or so.

Do you belong to Action for ME??? they have a benefits advisor you can phone, if not try the CAB.

    Good Luck
Today, my BEST is good enough.

We waited over 4 months for a response when we last filled in Dh`s IB50 - we live in the North West and they seem to have a problem.
Hope you hear soon these IB50`s don`t do anyones stress levels any good!

Up to five months, from receiving the ib50,having a medical and getting the ok, is not unusual in the northwest in recent times.

Yep I filled in my IB50 and sent it in in the first week of November. The first I heard from it was a phone call in March to ask me in for a medical the following week. After the medical I had the result back to say I had passed within a week which was such a relief!

I too have ME/CFS and know how hard it can be filling in the dreaded IB50. Luckily the doctor I saw at the medical (in the north lancs area) was really nice and understanding

Thanks for all your replies. It's nice to know I'm not alone. If time goes by and I don't hear, does anybody know whether I have to legally tell them that they've not responded to my application?

Leave them to it,unless you are worried they may not have received it for any reason, then you could always ring to check.

It is up to them what happens next and when,so don't worry.
